Well, I got my iPhone on Friday. Actually, picked it up from the ups store. Had it all day at work and didn't open it till 11pm that Friday. Set it up, was happy, and went to sleep. Woke up Saturday and said I'll go get a case. Passed by my job site, (construction project manager) and said I'll stop and see if the guys need material or not. I never go in Saturday's. Never. Just said **** it, I'll check. We'll, I'm at the job site and go to out my phone in my pocket and it doesn't go in the pocket and falls flat on the scree side onto the concrete. I pick it up, you guessed it. Cracked. I was all pissed.

Went to go buy a suit on Monday at the mall for a special occasion. Since I was there, I decided to stop at the Apple store to see how much they would charge to fix the cracked screen. They tell me they cannot fix the screens on these phones. That the whole thing has to be replaced. I remembered seeing something online. I went to the Apple website and I found the page where it said A cracked iPhone 6s Plus screen will be $149.99. They were surprised because that wasn't even coming up in their system. I said I wanted to pay that price to get my iPhone fixed please. She then tells me that they don't have the screen replacemensts yet. After a while, she said she could give me a new phone for that price since they don't have the screens yet. I said OK. When it was my turn, they brought out a new phone for me. I had my debit card ready to pay and the guy tells me, don't worry. I'm going to take care of you. This will be on the house. I understand it's a new phone and you just happened to drop it. I was ecstatic and thanked the guy like 6 times.

So just sharing my story and it was awesome and I got the phone for free. Let's just say my wife was happy again. She wasn't too happy about me spending $149.99 to fix my phone that I only had for one day

I am not surprised they did not fix the screen b.c it is new, and it is probably a pretty difficult process b.c of the 3D touch, but I am totally shocked they gave it to you for free. I would have argued for the $149 price too if they wanted me to pay the OOW cost.

I was shocked too. I kept telling the wife, I hope he doesn't get fired. Then I kept thinking maybe he gave me an iPhone 6 Plus. But no, had the 3D Touch and everything. Grant it, he told me he was ready to go home since it was 9:15 and they close at 9. But this is what I saw on the apple website as far as the price. I was going to argue it for that price as well. I was ready. https://www.apple.com/support/iphone/repair/screen-damage/

Congratulations on the extra care... I would definitely give that employee positive feedback and maybe even drop a note to Apple HQ. When someone does something "above and beyond" it really does have a very big impact on customer perception and loyalty - especially when it's totally unexpected. Things like this turn customers into fans.

Great!

to add to this :

most credit cards offer purchase protection for first 90 days. They usually reimburse u the cost of the product or the repair cost.

Maybe the guy did not know how to do the paperwork, so just GIVING you the phone was easier than charging you the $149. And, he said he did not know anything about the 149 anyways. Just say thank you and RUN.

Really? Didn't know about this. Good to know.

would you sya it slipped cause the phone was to big?
Nah. I had the iPhone 6 Plus before this one. Thing is, I happened to wear some cargo shorts that I didn't even know I had. Saw them that morning and said I'd wear them. Pockets had a wide opening. I usually put my phone in and let go half way and it slides. Well, with these shorts, it didn't slide. It flipped back and bam!!!

First off sorry about the iPhone drop.
Look into the THULE tough Case it's really a tight fitting case that would have saved your screen. and it is really under priced for it's quality with all controls that are still easy to use and signal strength is still high.
Good Luck.

The girl which was the manager is the one that said she didn't know. The guy that helped me just said I'll take care of you. On the house. I was like great. First thing in my head was what you said. Just say thank you and RUN! Lol.

Sounds good. I had the aApple iPhone 6 Plus case from before but I had ready it wasn't going to fit. Well when they give me the new phone, I asked and they said it would fit. So this whole time it could have been prevented.

Good luck on your choice. When it came to me deciding last year with the iPhone 6, I chose the plus. I really did liked the fact that I can do everything on that iPhone 6 with just one hand. On the plus, I can do 85% of everything with one hand. But that was it. Just that. So I felt I wasn't missing out on a lot of things. Just that. And that's ok with me. Sacrifice 1 thing for a few better things I get for my satisfaction from the plus.

I was thinking of doing that but I don't want to get him fired. When he was on the iPad doing the transaction, he kept saying this doesn't match up but oh well, as long as it doesn't show a charge so I won't have to pay. Don't want to get him in trouble if they don't know about it.

It's accidents like this make me keep my Griffin survivor case on. iPhone naked no chance
I like to go naked. But I never do. I get the apple case. Don't like bulky ones either but obviously they offer better protection. I just love the feel and the look of the phone. That's why I prefer naked. But when your on the next program, you need to take care of that sucker.

Yes. Always pay with credit card.

I know Amex has my back for the first 90 days even against theft.

The tricky part is with these financing plans.

Amex and other credit cards will only reimburse U for how much was charged on ur Amex or similar card.

So if u are financing it with $30-40/month payment. That will make it difficulty to get fully reimburse with these out of warranty claims for accidental damage within first 90 days.

you must be a very attractive man. lolz

Did you just walk in w/o an appointment? I cracked my 6 Plus screen a few days ago, and still haven't managed to book an appointment because of no availability.

I had a similar good experience, first and only time in an apple store, when I had an iphone 5. Nothing broken but had some defect under warranty and I can't remember exactly but wouldn't turn on and they couldn't figure out why either, so I couldnt remove the jailbreak. The store guy said you know typically we have to refuse jailbroken phones and charge the replacement fee, but I'll wipe it out and swapped for a new one no questions asked.

Stories like this is why I will stay an Apple customer. I always consider their repair/replacement prices listed as worst case scenarios. Their employees really do try their best to hook you up if they can , especially if it's something they can't fix or diagnose.

I've had experience with AMEX and a stolen phone and they would NOT reimburse it because I did not pay full retail.. So be careful with that. They said it could not be on any subsidized pricing or payment plan, which mine was the 2 year pricing at the time.

Discover also offers these protections.
