I ran a couple of tests pitching my 2 year old 5s against my new 6s Plus (Samsung N66AP).
5s: Manufactured 11/11/2013, max charge 1476 mAh (95.3%), 345 loadcycles.
6s Plus: Manufactured 9/21/2015, max charge 2730 mAh (100.3%), 4 loadcycles.
BT, WiFi (ac) and LTE enabled, bg app refresh ON, location services ON, auto app update ON. No optimization except WiFi assist OFF. Apps/settings identical.
Nonstop streaming from Apple Music:
5s: 16 hrs 44 mins
6s Plus: 30 hrs 11 mins
Heavy use of Safari, Mail, Twitter and Facebook over WiFi:
5s: 7 hrs 19 mins
6s Plus: 8 hrs 8 mins
The advertised time for WiFi browsing is 10 hrs (5s) vs 12 hrs (6s Plus), meaning the 6s Plus should deliver 20% more. I got 11% more from the 6sP than the 2 year old 5s w/ 95% capacity.
The advertised music playback time is 40 hrs (5s) vs 80 hrs (6s Plus), meaning the 6s Plus should deliver 100% more. Of course that's with local files, not streamed music so I wasn't expecting anywhere near that. But it works for this shootout. The 6s Plus delivered 80% more than the 5s.
Not exactly scientific but the 6s Plus isn't quite delivering what it should. There's nothing to suggest it's the battery's fault AFAIK. 2730 mAh is a tad over design capacity and the discharge curve is even. Oh well.
