When taking videos in low light with my iphone 6s plus, the camera just is NOT focusing. What I mean is, that the camera focuses for just a second, then it defocuses, and then it refocuses again. This keeps happening throughout the entire movie clip.
This doesn't happen in good light.

Could this be a defect with the camera on my iphone?

I found the same unfortunately. I took a video in very low light and the camera focuses and defocuses. Hopefully a glitch that will be fixed.

I saw a thread about this a week or so ago and I tested it out: had the same problem. Think the Thread starter fixed it by buying a third party camera app.

For your info, manually focusing it away from an object/person closer than one metre from you will help make it stay in focus. You will still be able to film the person or whatever closeby, just don't put the focus on him/her/it. Looks kike it simply doesn't like me focusing on someone too closeby in low light.

I've had the same issue and was also wondering if my camera focus mechanism was defective. Sounds like it could be a software glitch. I will try using a third party app more often and see if it makes a difference. Hopefully will be patched in the next update.

Pretty sure that was my thread. My problem was the same as OPs (camera kept refocusing while recording even with focus lock turned on), except with video and live photos rather than still photos.

Luckily it's just a software bug because buying a third party video app called MoviePro fixed it. Try downloading VSCO cam or some other free camera and see if that works.

when i was at apple store, employees there also mentioned that to me. Good thing Apple knows about it.
