Hi all,

My iPhone 6s Plus is failing to charge correctly. When I insert the lightning connector inside the charging port of the iPhone, the iPhone will not respond. Then, if I wriggle the lightning connector around a bit, then the iPhone will start charging and then when I let go of the lighting connector, the iPhone will stop charging.

This seems to me as if the connection between the connector and the iPhone itself is loose or damaged or blocked or dusty or something like that. I have tried using multiple cables and by deduction I have concluded that the problem remains with the iPhone.

I was thinking of using some compressed gas to attempt to blast away the dirt and dust that is inside the port of the iPhone. Would this help? Could this damage my iPhone?

If this is not the way forward, how should I go about remedying this issue?

Thank you very much!

Definitely lint in there. You need a pin or something to scoop it out.

Used the end of a paper clip and a flashlight to clear out my iPhone's lightning port last night. A huge amount of lint and dust came out of it! Tried the same for the headphone jack and a fair bit of dust came out of there too. Had never done this in the two years of having my iPhone.

Thank you so much for tip, helped a tonne!
