From experience, yes. Dropped mine into a toilet at the airport in Atlanta after expelling a troublemaker prior to a transatlantic flight. Was a horrible experience to fish out but had to have something to take back to the Apple Store and get an Apple Care replacement.

LOL did you tell them the story behind that one? If so, they probably dawned the bio-hazard suits... 😳

Regarding the OP's original question, I always read articles on my 6+ while in the lavatory. FWIW, if I'm on MR, chances are I'm on the toilet. Might want to rethink some of those second hand iPhones. 😀
