UPDATE: iPhone 6s still holding steady, with many SKUs still available on September 25th. More configurations are only now begging to slide to 2-3 weeks globally, lead by large storage Rose Gold models.

They make less of the 6s+ correct? Majority of people still buy the smaller version.

Yes, it is likely about a 60-40 split in favour of the smaller 6s. They don't break down exact figures in their sales numbers though, but they do report average sales prices along with some qualitative hints that should give us an idea of the breakdown come October.

For anyone interested, here is a full list of Apple Store ship dates in US/Canada/UK/Japan/China for the iPhone 6s & 6s Plus:

http://iphone-inventory.blogspot.com/2015/09/iphone-6s-pre-order-tracker.html

China was the first region to slip to 3-4 weeks ship date for the iPhone 6s Plus, all other regions have now followed suit - with the US last to slip to 3-4 weeks.

3-4 weeks is still perfectly acceptable IMHO a day after pre orders started. I'm sure last year at this time all 6 plus were sold out and you were not able to order?

It's possible they just made a lot more. Don't forget, only the material changed, not the design of the phone. They could have manufactured a greater number.

no kidding! especially since, at this point, 3-4 weeks is only 1-2 weeks past launch! we were at that MINUTES into presale last year!!!!!!!!

Yeah, all indications are they came into this launch with A LOT more inventories. There were several reports out on suppliers receiving increased orders, it seems a lot of those increased orders were for the larger 6s Plus which sold out much faster last year.

I suspect so. We still have several days of pre-orders left, so there are going to be a lot more orders to fill before Apple starts shipping.

The thing that sucks about waiting for the Apple Upgrade Plan is all the reservations are gone. And since that's the only way to get a phone thru that plan, we have no way to "pre-order". Like I have no secured spot if wait times just get longer and longer due to low supply. Argh!

Yeah they should have a way to pre-order the phone with the upgrade plan, maybe next year.

Preorder it, pay full price, return device in store and repurchase on upgrade plan.

Are these just Apple Store pre-orders? Or do these include retail store pre-prders as well?

Seems weird that plus models were in low supply last year and they slipped so much faster than the regular 6S this year too.

There was definitely improvement this year around, but there are various theories as to why the Plus is still in short supply vs. demand.

Apple Store pre-orders only. Direct from carrier pre-orders go through different channels which I am not tracking, however they are likely sold out as well.

I'm buying 2 phones....(my husband and I), is it going to charge me for the phones even though they won't ship for several weeks, or who knows ?? (Example, putting it on CC temporarily). Also, is it acceptable to return the phones and do as you say (buy them on the plan)? I only ask because I'd hate to be $1700 into phones in the end and get screwed and they tell me I can't do that or something!! I've never done it this way :)

You can absolutely do this, I've actually done it before. As in returned a device I preordered and repurchased in store on a subsidized price as my upgrade wasn't available at time of preorder.

The absolute WORST thing that could happen is that they take your return and don't let you repurchase on the spot. In that case you're out no money (assuming you don't open the box) and just wasted a little bit of time. I seriously doubt they wouldn't let you though.

Does this mean all 6S+ delivery date is in 3-4 weeks or only for whom start ordering from now on?
because my 6S+ 128gb delivery date still appears as 25th

Those date ranges are based on if you were to order at the time the blog was last updated.
