Yup. It's a home button noise thread. Usually I laugh at these threads, but I figured what the heck.

I have a 5C in the house, and old iPod touch, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad Air, and I work in a school with about 400 hundred iPad Airs. Also has an iPhone 6 up until a few weeks ago. They all have that audible but solid click on the downstroke, and a lower pitched, barely audible sound on release. My 6S Plus is the first device I've gotten that has a louder, and higher pitched "clack" sound when released. It's sort of obnoxious relatively speaking. When I press the button from the side, it sounds and feel pretty normal. Click it in the middle however (like you normal would) and it's "click" "CLACK". Lol.

So now that I've stooped so low as to have started a home button noise thread, I ask you, how's your 6S/6S+ home button sound/feel? Is it consistent with your past experience with iDevices, or do you have an annoying clacky sounding one like me?

I'd rather have a clicky sound then a mush sound when I release the home button after click. Unlike my 4S which is very mush and I don't like that. I'm different.

Yeah. Mush is the worst. I've felt a mushy button but fortunately never owned one.

I've had multiple iphone 6's replaced for crummy home button feel and operation (among other things, but always the home button). I finally got one just last weekend that feels incredible. My wife has had her iphone 6 for as long as I have and her home button has always felt perfect, like my current phone has. Every other phone I've had got worse and worse. So I'm hoping I've got a keeper now, but maybe you should take it in for replacement and hope for one of the good ones!

PS, one of my home button fixes was just a screen replacement, but it still didn't feel quite right, even right away.

It's just one of a myriad of potential iPhone faults.:D
If you're not happy with it then take it back.
Nobody can tell what your home button feels or sounds like but we all instinctively know when something is wrong.

And that's the bottom line right there ain't it? You hit it right on the head. When any of us get that gut feeling that things aren't as they should be, there's really no shaking it.
I've got a couple of new units arriving Tues.

What does Apple do with all of the perfectly good iphones that get returned by picky people? Do they resell them?

They refurbish them, and either they get handed back to people as replacements for defective units, or sold as refurbished phones. AFAIK. They don't currently list refurbished phones on their website, though... Just iPads, iPods, and computers.

My home button sounds just like the OP's. I went to Verizon to compare my click to the display models and they were the exact same as mine. I just don't click right in the middle so that I can avoid the 'CLACK' noise.

Thanks for sharing that. I just bought two more 6S Plus, for other members of my family. The home buttons are all exactly the same. Is what it is. I've gotten used to it.

In my experience of several iPhones of several generations , home button feedback may change a little bit from unit to unit.
If it's just a "feeling" and the home button is actually working fine, I would suggest to keep it: you could get a replacement unit with a different and better "sounding" home button but worse issues ...

They refurbish it, mostly, to give them to some other picky people ;)

My new 6s plus has a quite loud click (would say "clack") noise pressing home button. No wobbling, no double clicks, solid. Just a bit different. Has same experience with my first plain 6s then exchanged (for other reasons). Any experience?

Not sure why this is a problem. I prefer firm loud clicks over a mushy, soft click that has some play in it.

Not all home buttons are the same.

same here. 6s plus. solid, no double clicks, but loud "clacks" if pressed right in the middle.

My 6s Plus is clickier than any other iPhone I've had. But if you feel something isn't right, visit an Apple Store. Peace of mind is a wonderful thing.

In my case I am tired of return lottery. I have perfect screen with no bleeding or shadows. Poor quality, however. Quality is constant by definition.

I find it sad that just the sound of the home button on your iPhone irritates some people. Every iPhone I have had a different feeling and sounding home button but not one has caused me even the smallest bit of concern.
