iPhone 6S Plus replacement - different button design

Hi All,

I just had my 6S Plus replaced due to a screen problem, just setting up the new one and I noticed that the power and volume buttons look different.. there is a chamfer around the buttons and more of a gap.

Has anyone seen this before? Have Apple refined the button design or something since the launch version I had before?

Called support to talk about it and they said next appointment is next Wednesday but has given me a case number to hopefully get it sorted on the spot..

Just calling them back to see if I can get an express replacement done given the circumstances. I don't have applecare+ on it.

Can't you do a walking appointment

I'm hoping given the circumstances of them giving me the faulty phone yesterday and the fact that I haven't even used it/taken the plastic off will help get it done on the spot. Could be wishful thinking.

even though you think it is. it still has to go through like any other appointment. i would know i used to work at the genius bar for a few years.

try doing the chat online and explain your situation. sometimes they can bump it up to their supervisor and they'll wave it. just be nice but don't ask for them to wave it. just tell them that you're just concerned and would just like to replace it for one that looked like the one you originally had. it might work. i've had them waive things a few times and wasnt expecting them to.

no way. it was alright. but i got tired of the retail inconsistent hours/ different schedule week to week.

I was wondering if it was a design tweak, because it is all chamfered. It's not like a button just sitting in a hole..
 
i got a 6s plus 2 months ago and its still the same as its always been. i wonder whats up with that design.

I've searched Google and seen no one else mentioning this either so either I'm one of the first to get it and post about it or it's a fault. Wouldn't imagine they'd change it so much so late in the cycle
