People like me who are upgrading from two-year-old phones who want to buy the latest model. Two-years isn't "a long while"--it's pretty standard given how contracts have worked--and it doesn't make much sense to upgrade from a two-year old-phone to a one-year-old phone.
Last year no one was able to walk into a store on launch day and get a phone. It was the first time in years I didn't get mine on launch day despite ordering at 3AM - mine came about a month later (6+). I know in the past when the gold was released those were hard to find for quite a while. I wouldn't be surprised to see a rose gold shortage at the beginning of the release.
I really want one but my husband gets my hand-me-downs so I will be resisting. I also prefer the black face so that helps.

I agree, I waited at least a month for a gold 5s, the first year there were gold phones. I'm definitely expecting to wait on the rose gold. Like one of the posters on this thread I feel like apple opened the two weeks window for shipments so that they could supply whatever demand there is. After the first week they will be able to see where they need to ramp up production at whether that be the rose gold or a certain size. I think apple is making a good choice on this.
Maybe there will be a shortage but this time the release is actually a week longer than usual. Maybe Apple realized what went down with the gold 5S launch and needed more time to meet demand?
I really don't understand why people get upset by the white front especially as the iPhone uses a lot of light colours in its UI these days?
I watch movies on my phone when I travel and I can't stand the white bezel on it. But that is just me.

Most people use cases, so color doesn't really matter except if you want the front to be white or black. What I have learned is get the color that nobody wants if you want it on launch. But I bet Rose gold will be in high demand and there will be delays depending on how people pre order.. P.S. You are darn cute...

LMAO the thirst is real on this thread! I'm debating whether or not to take a shot at the online preorders for the Rose Gold or to just pick it up in store on launch day from a carrier or Apple.

Not true. They love that color. Apple is very smart to choose that as the next color.
While I'll be getting rose gold, I do think the black front looks better. I like the look of a phone when the screen is off and the entire front is just a slab of black glass.
It's definitely a more feminine color. I think only women and feminine guys should buy it /snickers
