Does anyone know if the 6s Plus is unlocked and able to be used in other countries with the foreign country's SIM Card? I had a 6 Plus from Verizon (was unlocked) but it isn't compatible in many countries. Only the Unlocked and SIM Free model will work.

Seems to me this 6s Plus would work. Anyone have any knowledge on this?

Thanks!

Verizon is the best as it is unlocked, last time it was missing a few LTE bands for China, what countries did you go to that it didn't work?

Going to China in December.

Same here, what would be the best choice for the 6S for china? It looks like the 2 variant differ only by band 30 which is used by ATT.

I just looked on Apple's page and it appears that this year the Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile have the same LTE bands as the Chinese model (AT&T has band 30 as well which is only for their future network) they have different model numbers, so I'm not sure of the exact difference, but it looks like any US model is as good as any other for China.

So is Apple not going to sell the Unlocked and SIM-Free model as they have in the past?

Probably not right away, UNLESS you sign up for the new Apple installment program. From what I read on Apple's website, all the phones bought through the 24 month installment (w' 12 month trade in option) are unlocked and you can chose carrier SIM of your choice.

In the US they never advertise it as Unlocked and SIM-Free until a few months after the release when supply catches up to demand. I'm not sure if it is part of an agreement with the carriers or if it is to discourage scalpers, but they do it that way every year. Most likely this year the SIM-Free model will be the AT&T one so it is compatible with all carriers in the US including band 30 on AT&T.
