Trying to setup my new iPhone and it is stuck at restoring my iCloud backup at the time remaining: estimating part.

I turned it off and back on, disabled Find my IPhone on the old phone, but it is still hanging there. Been about 45 minutes or so now.

Just wondering if anyone else had this issue or if it is just that a lot of people are restoring their phones and the servers are just overloaded or something.

Thanks!

It worked !! Am currently working in Montreal and was going to go back to the US for The holidays. I also had a brand new iPad Pro waiting for me in the States. Not wanting to carry my full sized iPad (the Air 1), I just backed it up to the cloud before leaving for the airport.

Now here in SC, just unboxed the thing and during setup wasn't able to back it up. Got nervous enough to Google it, found this, clicked on this thread and it worked !

[doublepost=1483372849][/doublepost]I cannot believe it -- lost access to my phone last night. Had Apple trying to help. Backup wouldn't restore -- then found this thread - scrolled through and I'm up and running! This is crazy.

Im trying to backup all my data onto icloud, my iphone said 8 hours... just restarted my phone and restarted the backup. Reading through these praying the "magic" will work!

Did not work for me. Yes, I read EVERY SINGLE word! Have been going for Seven hours and it still says 8 hours remaining!
try restarting your phone and deleting unnecessary data :)

Yes, honest to God, it is actually working. This is the second time for me, first time for backing up, spent nine hours, but still stuck at time estimating 2 hours, after reading a few pages of this thread (was just searching desperately for solution, and this webpage came to me). This time restore time estimation was 9 hours, 9 hours!!!!! Didnt know what to do, searched this thread again, and be a true believer, after reading 2 pages, it got down to 2 hours, after another page, went and looked at my phone, i left it right beside the router, lo and behold, it said 1 minute remaining, and boom it changed to less than 1 minute remaining, OMG, ya i bookmarked this page. And i promised in my head, if it worked, i would sign up and post too, this is the first time i post something onto a forum, but i really have to do this.

Good luck to you all!

Ive been trying to restore for days now...no luck. :(
[doublepost=1485572749][/doublepost]waiting for this magic to happen.

i am one of the people that only made an account to tell people that this works! jeez, i thought everyone was weird but i looked down and it had moved! i didnt even have to read the whole thread. its done now. this is seriously crazy

This did work. I restarted mine (it was stuck at 7%) about page 7. It said updating (weird because I never prompted it). Went through that rigamorole, and voila! Truly weird coincidence? Who cares - but it was enough to get me to post. That's sayin' something.

**** this thread, read through all the pages hoping this **** would work and it didn't wasted my damn time with this not to mention restarting my phone and waiting a whole day just to have it stuck at 20 hours wtf

[doublepost=1488176312][/doublepost]Omg.... no way this worked. I was scrolling through this thread and I see all these people who just going to this thread caused it to work. I was thinking like no way this will happen to me, then I looked at my phone and low and behold the the backup started loading. This is crazy lol. I made an account just to respond and maybe continue the good will.

Thank you? I guess.... lol

Never mind! Guess all I needed to do was post on here to get it working. Haha. :)
Ok. . . I literally just opened this thread and read the responses. Upon finishing this, I looked down to see that it had actually moved. This is insane! Someone should seriously sticky this or something!! HAHA!
oh. my. god. so i had tried backing up my phone like 17 times turned it on and off ****ed around with the settings i did everything. I read through this thread, i honestly thought people were trolling about reading through it and having it work BUT IT DID!!!! I also made an account just to post because i'm in disbelief. wtf woohoo!!!!

I don't know which is funnier:

A) People backing up to iCould and then restoring back from the cloud

B) People that are saying this thread solved their iCloud restore problem

Both groups are a little nutty IYAM. :D

A) "iCould" and iTunes backups are quite different in nature, and iCloud backups generally seem cleaner and "safer" in terms of bugs
B) You must be fun at parties

A) I have never seen any evidence that iCloud backups were cleaner. Care to prove your claim?

B) No more than the next guy. But what's with the personal comment?

A) Nah, I don't care that much frankly. Google it
B) No more personal than calling people "nutty"

A) Because it is a little nutty to first pay $$$ for enough GBs to back up your idevice to iCloud, and then endure the long wait to restore down from the cloud when a free and faster way exists.

Now I know there is a nice feeling your backup is safe in the cloud (as opposed to being on your PC/laptop), but still...
