Nilay said some positive things for sure, but throughout the review I sense a tone of cynicism. Annoyed about those ad-blockers Nilay?

I disagree with him on many fronts. The white antenna lines are the type of decision a serious designer makes. The beauty of them is they don't shy away from showing they have a function—that's opinionated bold design: that's design. Nilay thinks he can out-design Jony Ive?

Heck, if it was Samsung the gold one would have gold-plastic antenna lines: yuck!

For me iPhone 6s and 6 are the most attractive phones on the market. And I think it makes a ton more sense to recommend the 6s over the 6s plus. The 6s plus is too large for most people's hands and is only worth if for two groups: large hands or people who cannot live without the additional battery life.

If the Verge is moving away from scored reviewing with comments I think that's great. Too often the reviews are just full of comments from fanboys complaining that one phone got an 8.9 and a different phone got an 8.8. The scores were so subjective anyway.

4K video truly great? Those people have no idea what 4K and bad compression really is.

Though in The Verge's video review Nilay calls the iPhone 6s the best phone out there, the review itself has tone of cynicism through the whole thing. Annoyed about those ad-blockers? I also disagree with him in many fronts. Those antenna lines are the type of decision a serious designer makes: the beauty of them is they don't shy away from showing that they have a function, it'd be different if they just held the phone together. Nilay thinks he can out-design Jony Ive? Yes, if it was Samsung the gold one would have gold-plastic antenna lines: yuck!

I agree. That guy should be first designing his gross nails.

New model, same pitch - the best iPhone so far. :) Obviously it is and should be, but 7 will be even better. It's an inevitable rule of evolution.

It sounds inevitable until a dud is released.

Many examples throughout history where new versions of a product were flops and consumers preferred the original/previous version.

One day it might happen to Apple, but so far they seem to be doing a great job with their iPhone line.

I just wish that UPS would send me a tracking number. So far the apple website still says processing. I need that to switch to Shipped ASAP. Pretty Please
I hear you. I was able to look my phones up by reference though. Both showed up. One is in Harrisburg and other just says label created.

iPhone 7 will the the "best iPhone so far"
iPhone 7S will be the "best iPhone so far"
iPhone 8 will be the "best iPhone so far"
iPhone 8S...

well.. Apple, change your line! New iPhone better be better than the last one or you won't be selling any! Don't need to tell us the obvious unless it is no true for any generation.

For me iPhone 6s and 6 are clearly the most attractive phones on the market. And I think it makes a ton more sense to recommend the 6s over the 6s plus. The 6s is too large for most people's hands if you ask me and is only worth if for people with very large hands of people who cannot live without the additional battery life it provides.

Jony Ive is overrated, he has laurels to rest on because of a few things he had a hand in, (you surely don’t think that everything that came out of Apple is solely due to Apple)? The thick antenna bands on the iPhone are a fail as is the sticky outy camera. It may be necessary but it is a fail nonetheless.
I’m pretty sure most people either;
  • Ignore the bands and cameras.
  • Ignore the bands and cameras and get a case.
  • There are very few that actually like them.
It’s an awful if necessary aesthetic solution. Deal with it. Apple have done the form over function thing countless times before, I truly wish this was one of those times.

That day usually comes with a company focuses on cost cutting over innovation... there are so many example... like a lot of kitchen and household gadgets/appliances... same model, worse material is use and break down as soon as warranty is over like clockwork.

Thought about upgrading from my 5S for a few days now but I think I'll pass. Thanks to the strong Dollar the 6S is rather expensive in Germany and only 16GB storage for the entry model with all this 4K Video and Live Photo stuff is a dealbreaker.

Exactly the same story here in Canada... 20% price increase over last September.. NO THANKS.

I have a 16gb Iphone 5 and I am thinking about a new phone. I downloaded IOS 9 and I really like it.

I would be a lot more willing to pony up premium dollars for an Iphone 6S if it had a BIGGER BATTERY. Who cares how thin it is. I want an ALL DAY PHONE!!! Especially for a premium price. And it wouldn't have cost much to add a bigger battery. Although it may have hurt Jony Ive's feelings....

3D touch sounds interesting, I will be curious to see if its as good as these guys make it seem because every other review I have read says it is confusing to use since you don't know where it will work and where it won't

I just see it like Pinch to Zoom - how do we know where we can/can't use it?

We don't until we try. And we've been fine for the last 8 years.

As a 6 user I too am likely skipping, although I may just go ahead with it and use this article as my excuse:
