Hi,

Got an iPhone 6s and noticed that the ringtone is CONSIDERABLY lower when standing on a flat surface like a table.

I normally get the ringtone/alert sound and vibration very clear otherwhise but as soon as I leave it on the table and get a text message, the sound is so much lower, close to mute sometimes.

Any reason for that? I guess it's must be related to the motion processor that distinguishes the surface on which the phone is laying but still, it's so annoying!

Any advice?

thanks !

So is it standing or lying down? If lying down, is it face up or down (out of curiosity)?

I'm not aware of the motion processor to do something to the ring tones o_O

I thought ao because the phone obviously knows when its laying down on a flat surface and therefore the sound is considerably lower

Or maybe there's something with that particular phone where the speaker doesn't quite work properly when it's lying down?

I really don't think so...the speaker works perfectly the rest of the time

So if you used Siri or played some video or radio or something like that while it's lying down when the alert sounds are very low, how does all that sound?

Crystal clear

I have a very similar problem, and this is the first time I've ever seen anyone but me mention it. It doesn't happen all the time, though...just sometimes, if the phone is laying flat and locked, the first sound it makes, an incoming text, for instance, is very very quiet. Then, if a second text comes in, it's at normal volume. It also happens if I say "Hey Siri, set a timer..." when the phone is locked...the timer sets properly, but Siri's voice confirming it is super quiet.

This issue only happens if the phone is locked, so it seems my phone has a bit of a speaker issue when waking from a locked state. Other than this intermittent issue, my phone is flawless, and it doesn't bother me enough to bring it in for a replacement, and potentially end up with something more annoying. Glad to hear I'm not the only one, though!!

Yes ! Exactly the same ! first text is very quiet then the second one is at a normal volume most of the time....
