Since the tagline for tomorrow's event specifically involves "Hey Siri," which is Apple's hands free method of interacting with Siri, and thoughts if Apple might be considering improving the "Hey Siri
feature? Right now, its limited by the fact that the phone has to be plugged in. If they added a separate coprocessor for this function as some of the Androids do, it could always be listening and would add some nice functionality.

I may be wrong but I've always assumed one of the reasons why you can't use "hey Siri" whilst not plugged in is to avoid problems when in public. Eg, random people being able to "hey Siri" you when out and about. Or saying "hey Siri" in the office and everyone else's phones responding!

It's certainly a possibility. Perhaps that's what will differentiate an M9 from the M8, much like the barometer differentiated the M8 from the M7.

It makes perfect sense. Some reports say that always on Siri is coming to the 6s. I'm extremely happy if this happens. This would really set the 6s apart from the iPhone 6. On the iPhone 6 there's a jailbreak tweak for always on siri but it drains battery like hell

I agree with @elathus

I think if this were to happen, there would be a set up process similar to Touch ID where you would speak a series of sentences and the phone would adapt to the sound/tone of your voice and activate only to when you say "Hey Siri". Windows 10 has a similar feature with Cortana where it will only recognize your voice.

Also, it'll probably grab data each time you talk to Siri so it can even better learn your exact voice.

I am not sure about Always on Siri, but at the same time, I think this is a very big possibility. The only problem is, there are reports that the battery may be a tad smaller and if Apple could some how keep the same battery life with the iPhone 6s as they do the 6, then maybe it would work, but the co processor would have to be extreamly power effcient.

If this is true, together with force touch, upgraded camera + ram, I'd say I'm happy that I didn't buy the 6 since the improvement is really significant

this has long been a rumor. But the main issue is battery life. Enabling "Hey siri" all the time, would require the phone to be on 24/7. Which would effectively kill the sleep mode. And battery life would be greatly lessened.

I kind of feel like the plugged in Hey Siri thing was originally created so people could text and drive, but safely. That could be why it hasn't expanded to a untethered Hey Siri, because they've accomplished what they set out to do.

That's where a dedicated chip/processor would come in.
