Since I"m at the point of "this is hopeless anyway", I've just tried cleaning the lightning connector (in the phone and the cable) with 70% isopropyl alcohol wipes.

Not sure if it did any good, but the behavior has changed slightly.

I'm not 100% sure what the indicators mean. Before, I would get a battery icon, flashing red, with a picture of a lightning connector. Pressing up hard would get the lightning connector picture to disappear and the phone to boot (I think it quickly runs out of power, crashes, and dumps back to the battery screen)

After the alcohol I can get it to display that battery screen WITHOUT the lightning connector icon...neither showed like a charging symbol.

I take it the picture of the lightning cable means it thinks it's NOT connected to one, so now it thinks it is...but it seems to sit there for a while, then try to boot, presumably run out of power and crash.

I'll just leave it plugged in, I guess...see what happens.

Anyway you can shoot a picture of the port?

I can try to do that tonight with my (much worse) camera.

So after using alcohol on it last night, I woke up today and my 6s was 94% charged...but not charging. I forced the connector in more, it started charging, and got to 100% while I was getting ready.

Now I've got it connected to the Smart Battery Case, and the phone is SHOWING that it's charging, and reading data from the case-it shows the case at 100%, and shows that the case is charging too...

BUT the phone itself is slowly trickling down, even though it claims it's charging...
