I can get the XR thru Apple’s new Military/Veteran store and also get $200 from Apple to trade in my 6s.

Still no?

Anything wrong with your 6s? It's a good upgrade, minus losing the headphone jack and 3D Touch if you're used to those.

I should have mentioned. My 6s is absolutely flawless. No cosmetic or hardware issues whatsoever.

Don’t use 3D Touch.

No games.

Hesitant to use bigger phone. Not sure how much better Face ID works than Touch ID

You definitely should do it. If anything, you'll get VERY long battery life (and a host of other stuff).

Of course its worth it. You're lucky to get $200 for your 6s, and the XR is better in every single way in my opinion.

You can do it. iPhone XR does provide you a new experience for people with iPhone 6s
But iPhone 6s is still great on me.
BTW, the trade in price is fair, because there are iPhone 6s from carriers with only 139 dollars

At this point in time, now that the calendar is officially 2019, just wait and see what Apple has in store this upcoming year

the 6s is impressive and runs very well on iOS 12. It does not feel slow or dated in function, and it will run perfectly fine

If you had an older device, I would be more encouraging of an upgrade to the XR

Thank you for the votes and comments. I also voted “no” myself because I have some doubts.

-XR is little bigger. I use my phone with one hand too. Especially when cooking/grilling/holding/carrying something with the other hand. I cannot really use the XR with one hand comfortably.

- XS is great in size. Not different than 6s. But too expensive!

-6s works fine usually. Sometimes, I get irritated with some apps loading but nothing to make me throw it on the wall:) My 6s is also 16GB. I wish it was 32GB at least but it is doable. I got this phone from Apple five months ago as a free replacement for my broken 6s.

-I should wait; I believe Apple will cut the new coming iPhone prices by $100. Way too expensive now. That’s one of the reasons the iPhone sales are lowish I think.

Anyway, thanks again. Will keep my 6s for one more year.

Just for the fact that your 6s is 16 GB, I would suggest you go for the 64 GB XR. I am not a big fan of XR and would prefer the XS to it, but then my 6S is a 64GB ( limited edition :) ) with a brand new battery, which is holding me back from the switch to XS.

My partner also has an iPhone 6s. He didn't want my iPhone X (I upgraded to the XS Max), not even for free, because he finds it to be too big (even though it's not really that big of a difference).

So for some people small size is the deciding factor. He's already worried of what he might get once his 6s breaks down in a couple of years.

Anyway, if you don't care about small size, 6s to XR is a significant upgrade and a whole new experience. I know of other people who have gone that path, and they are amazed.

Really? You’re suggesting to wait 10 full months and that a phone released on Oct 26 2018 (just over 60 days ago) is no longer worth buying?

I don’t know what to say...

I just took night time pics with my xr and WOW! No way in hell the 7 plus and older phones can take night pics with any confidence. But if you’re fine with holding out go for it! But I highly doubt you’ll regret the jump.

Well, Im suggesting the OP continue to use the perfectly running iPhone 6s, which runs almost identically on iOS 12 as the XR does and just wait until early September for the next generation of iPhones. Apple has hit a rough patch, and who knows what the next gen will bring beyond the usual improvements and potential design enhancements. Rumours of notchless iPhones, or iPhone with a smaller notch. Might be more worth to jump on that.

Did I say anywhere that the XR is "no longer worth buying" Anywhere?? No.

To reiterate my point: if the OP was using an older phone, I would be more encouraging for them to update to the XR. Since they are using a phone that is very fast and capable today, on iOS 12, my opinion is they hold on to that perfectly capable device. You may not agree with that. The OP may ultimately not agree with that. The purpose of threads like this though is to provide different opinions for someone who is making a decision, so they can weigh the opinions of others and make a choice for them-self.

Most people understand its logical to recommend to someone to hold on to something that works perfectly fine, even if they themselves believe differently

PS - early September 2019 is not a full 10 months away

I’m still using a 6S+ and very happy with how everything including the latest OS runs. I did get the $29 battery upgrade several months back, and plan on using it until it’s either physically unusable or software prevents it.

Yep. That’s what I decided to do. I closed the poll few days ago too. No need to get a new phone when my current one is running pretty good. I am sure XR would be nicer/faster but this is good enough for now.

Upgraded from my 6 to XR because the 6 has only 1 GB RAM and that is noticeable with IOS12. Otherwise the 6 is still a nice small and super thin phone compared to the XR. Looks still like new because it was in a case and had a screen protector attached. Replaced the battery in December with the Apple replacement program and want to keep it as a reserve phone if something happens to my XR (or maybe also at holidays to take something smaller with me when I don't need a phone that much).

The main advantage of the XR is the battery life. It feels like 3 times compared to the 6 (but with only 80% capacity). Still have to get used to the size and weight of the XR. It's nearly 100 grams heavier with bumper and screen protector. Put my 6 most of the time in my shirt pocket which is uncomfortable with the XR. Using the AirPots now as a headset so the XR can lay around on the table and doesn't bother me....

Imo at this point Face ID vs Touch ID is more of a preference.

I got used to Face ID on my X but still feel Touch ID is faster on my iPad and had originally felt it was faster when I first got my X
