My iphone 7 can’t seem to handle a Siri command whilst streaming music

I nearly upgraded to an XS but didn’t because it’s a complete waste of money, instead I upgraded to a sim only contract (I’m in U.K. so no AT&T here or whatever)

@Newtons Apple. You would defend Apple over and above anything else in life. How is it ok for a 7 to do this?

Not apologizing but neither my MAX or my 11” continuously plays music while interacting with Siri. The music is interrupted while Siri is working but continues when Siri is done.

Is this really ruining your day?

I am sorry that Apple has let you down.

It's not that it can't handle it, its programmed not too. Just like using Android when using ok google and even MacOS when using Siri while playing music from an Android phone or Mac.

The reason is because dialogue mixed with music that often has lyrics and then pushed out the same speakers, especially small speakers with a narrow range the dialogue becomes nearly incomprehensible. This can also effect dictation quality since you could be trying to talk over someone for Siri. Google search does the same thing (pauses music) when using the mic in Google Maps.

If you are using bluetooth/AirPlay music can remain playing depending on settings and type of speakers (not headphones for example).

I don't think Newtons Apple needs to defend what is not only common speaker microphone operation on many devices but common sense as well...

"hey siri can you set a reminder to make breakfast tomorrow?"

"You will be reminded to BACKSTREETS BACK ALRIGHT!!!!!! tomorrow at 7am"

A bit set in his ways maybe, but that's because what he has and what he does works for him and he's unwilling to mess around with that. But I've never heard him excuse Apple for something they came up short on.
