Hi all,

Bought a Sprint iPhone hoping to use it on ATT.. the guy I bought it from said it was not activated therefore it was unlocked. Turns out it wasn't. What can I do?

What store did you purchase this from?

Oh I see what you mean, hopefully it's paid in full if not your not going to get it unlocked you may just have to sell it and buy an At&t one.

Yep, never buy a used iPhone. Too many traps. A gamble that rarely pays off.

In the end, you bought a cheaper phone, then buy another one because the first one didn't work out. No money saved.

How much did you give for the phone if you don't mind me askin? And which one is it

Matte black
Yeah hopefully you can sell it, I would definitely get it on there asap. Try Craigslist, the longer you wait the less of a chance of getting your money.
[doublepost=1475215500][/doublepost]Then I would either shell out the extra $100 or just buy a 32gb from At&t new and not have to worry about nothen!

Is there anyway to get it done sooner than the 50 days they say I need to wait?

I got it from Craigslist but the guy said it was at the Apple Store.

Damn. Never buy anything like that from craigslist, as you have zero protection. Always use a site like ebay which provides buyers protection.

That does not sound right. AT&T unlocked mine within in an hour once I paid it off.
It does not sound right, but this is Sprint we are speaking of - not AT&T.

The unlock 'law' that President Obama signed has enough leeway to allow carriers to make certain requirements for unlocking.

Sprint requires that the device be active on an account in good standing for 50 days before they will unlock, even if you paid full price.

T-Mobile requires 40 days.

AT&T does not require anything except full payment.

Verizon is unlocked period.

May not sound right, but it is the way it is.

If anyone wants an unlocked from the get-go Sprint device when paying full price they have to buy it from Apple.

So with that being said if I have the phone on me but it's not actively beginning used can I still use it after the 50 days?

The clock starts running when you activate the phone. It's not 50 days from purchase.

So, say you wait three months to activate it. Once you do, you have 50 days from that point.

At this point , you will have to try to purchase an unlock via third party, I would first try purchasing the $25 unlock, if that doesn't work, the IMEI will have to be submitted through a premium unlock service which can run you $80-$100

Where does one get the $25 unlock?

Okay. So since the phone is locked it would have had to have been activated correct? When I call Sprint back up after that will I have to have all the info they were asking for? (Account holders number name and whatnot)

Well, even if the phone has never been activated if it's a Sprint phone purchased at a Sprint store then it will be locked to Sprint.

If it was activated then you have however many days it was active banked. But to get it unlocked, yes you need all the account details Sprint is asking for.
