if you are afraid of rubbing off the oleophobic coating you should not be using touch screen devices. The control can be placed and moved anywhere on the screen. It's your CHOICE where to put/move it.
Rubbing off the coating is obviously unavoidable. What IS avoidable is removal of the coating in a single spot/area (caused by repeated interaction in a specific area, such as the virtual joystick area for games, or the swipe area for the 3D Touch multitasking gesture which). Not a difficult concept to understand, I think.

And no - I shouldn't be forced to have a big ugly square ANYWHERE on my screen.
