I feel like apple's 'new design' releases are always a big fiasco now. It was the same case with iPhone 4 and 5. Personally, I think there's more value in the iPhone xS releases. They are more performance centric, which is what its really about anyway. That was the case with 4S and def 5S releases.

Having said that, i think apple is getting close to their ideal design and form factor. I hope they really hit iPhone 7 out of the park! New design AND performance in first release! If they've learned from the past few launches, they should def be well armed with that one.

Thoughts…

I know its a bit early, but play along!

2 years away is an eternity in the smartphone world.

If anything I'd say simply think about the 6s coming out next year if you want to daydream about the future...

So basically by your logic the iPhone 7 will suck also because we should really wait it out for the 7S.

I'm about to go stand in line for the iPhone 7... Just listed my perfect, unscratched, unbent 6s on ebay.... :D

Two more years... :(

I'll bite.

Doubtful ip7 will be slimmer. If anything, it'll be a bit thicker to erase any doubt of the structural integrity of the chassis.

And then when it IS thicker, people will start to complain how bulky it is.

Other than this, bezels will be thinner.

I'm still getting used to my 6+ !!!

Not ready for iPhone 7 RUMORS!!!

I always go with the Non-S releases. The S releases seem so minor. Sure they upgrade the processor, but they do the same thing with the Non-S releases. They did it with the iPhone 5 and 6.

But lets be honest, iPhone 6 didn't really end up being a big update. If it weren't for the bigger screen, it'd be a dud. Heck iPhone 5s was a bigger update than this one. iOS 8 was probably the real update this fall IMO.

the bigger screen did it for me. i always went away from the iphone after a while because the screen was so small for me. I have an S4 that I switched to the 6 from and I am very happy with the screen size. It's just right for me. The iPhone has always been too small. I look at the 4 and 4s and it almost disgusts me how tiny the screen is. So to me this is HUGE.

if you had a Time Machine, you could jump forward 2 years to get one then bring it back here to the Present and be like "hey y'all check out my new i7 rig"...

Ha! Thanks.

I know!! Sry I'm bored. I just feel like they have quite a bit of data now on design, form factor, etc that they should really be able to blow it outta the water.

I really doubt the iPhone 7 will look any different from the 6.

Ok, might as well throw my two cents out there:

iPhone 7: Smaller bezels, 1080p display for the 7, 4k display for the 7+, 4k recording on both, and i think Apple may finally get rid of the home button/Touch ID and put it on the actual display, similar to what android does with their buttons. That should help with the bezel problem. I think Apple will keep the iPhone at 4.7in and 5.5in but will significantly reduce the bezels.

I think they're going to keep the same form factor just like the 4 and 5 were pretty similar with the flat sides and metal strip form. Then I bet the 8 will slowly swing back to the slightly rounded back, maybe they'll even copy the curved device like the G Flex.

What a ****ing waste of battery life & processing power

Funny thing is 2yrs ago, people said the same thing about a 720p and especially a 1080p display on a mobile phone. And it happened. Hell people said the same thing when Apple first introduced the retina display. "OMG, Apple is gonna ruin the battery life and processor is gonna be killed b/c of all dem pixels!!! Apple is doomed!!" The 6+ battery life is phenomenal. Technology progresses on. If the resolution of the 7+ surpasses that of 1080p (which I think it will) I guarantee you the battery life will still be phenomenal and the processor will be able to handle it. We're talking 2016 here.
