First off, I'm not sure if this is a iPhone 7 issue/bug or iOS 10...

Prior to my switch to the iPhone7, I was using my 6 with no issues with my iMac and iPhoto...The mac has Yosemite and the iPhoto is 9.6.1 along with latest iOS on the phone...

Whenever I plug my 7 into the iMac, iphoto opens and it recognizes the phone and states loading however nothing actually loads like it would normally...It basically hangs at that step...I used my wife's iPhone 6+ with iOS 9 and it's able to load the photos off of the phone and transfer it to the iMac....

Tried searching for this issue but haven't had any luck...

If this is the wrong forum to post this particular issue, please move it to the correct thread...

Thanks in advance...

iPhoto is dead and has been for a while now. It was replaced by Photos. I'm guessing Apple completely killed its functionality when they moved to iOS 10.

I have this problem with photos.

iOS 10.0.2 took care of the issue I was experiencing seems like...

Well, the issue I was having is not fixed...After I updated the phone iOS, it was able to load the photos from my iPhone 7...That was only once...

Now it does the same thing as before when I plug the phone to my iMac...I found that if I either restart the phone or the iMac and then plug it and iPhoto launches, it loads the photos to transfer...

Still trying to figure this out...

I was having the same problem and found this post looking for a solution. I may have found one on my own: unlock your phone. As soon as I did that, iPhoto immediately went from "loading" (where it had been for several minutes) to showing thumbnails.

Good luck!!!
