I have an iPhone 7+ where the headset speaker volume is super low (the speaker above the screen)... actually when playing music, no sound comes out from it at all.
Just wondering if they usually repair the speaker or do they usually replace the device?

I had this problem on a 6s plus. And they replaced my device. But at that time, the store was about to close and I just had a feeling that they just didn't want to add anymore work. Just wondering how do they usually handle this problem.

Ive had to take mine to Apple 3 times now for them to "clean" out the speaker. Same thing as you...little to no sound from upper speaker only. They take it into the back where they say they have some sort of "machine" that cleans out all the ports and speakers. Sounds like brand new when they get done, but sound fades over time and I'm sure I'll be back in a few months to do it again

Because it's a replaceable part, they likely will just replace the speaker and not the whole iPhone. And if there is water damage, they may or may not be able to determine that.

I went in last night. They did the audio test. Both the speaker and front mic failed the test. He cleaned the speaker with a brush. The next test, the mic passed but the speaker still failed. But I listened to a voicemail before they took it to the back for repair and it sounded fine.
I was hoping for a new device but they ended up replacing the entire front assembly. New screen. New speaker. New Touch ID. Etc

Service like this is a big reason why I buy apple products.
