i have always had white iphones i am thinking about getting the matte black those of you with the matte black how is it holding up, also how does it look with a screen protector on it , any thoughts would be great!

The Matte Black uses the same 7000 Series Anodized Aluminum as the Sport Apple Watch. Basically, it holds up fairly well with scratches and bending. There are quite a few of durability video tests depicting this.

My experiences is that the finish nicks pretty easily. Could just be because of how dark it is, and the silver 6s plus nicked just as easy, and so did the space grey 6 plus, but didn't show as much due to them not being as dark.

I've heard people who are using it caseless develop some wear on the back because of constantly setting the phone down. Just normal wear and tear. I'd imagine it'll hold up better than the jet black.

I've used it without a case for a couple of weeks until my case came in the mail. Still no scratches on it. It's durable, but it will nick I assume.

Was wondering the same since I've been tempted to use it without a case. As for screen protection you really down either getting an Edge2edge or ones that only cover the flat portion of the screen. I had an e2e that fitted perfectly but they're incompatible with many cases especially those with raised lip around the bezel area and the regular ones make the front look ugly.

I've had mine since launch and always caseless. No scratches on back or anywhere else from wear and tear. However, I do have a nick on the side from dropping once. The silver colored aluminum does show on a nick. Not big enough to worry about. No other wear on the phone besides that.

I have a glass screen protector that doesn't reach the curves. Looks pretty good. I have seen the ones that go past the curves and they do look nicer for sure, just not nice enough for me to change my protector that is still unblemished.

I am using matt black iPhone 7 with a case from almost three months now and device is holdingup pretty well.

Had mine since launch and mine is perfect still. If going without a case you can expect normal wear. I use a apple silicone and 3D screen protector and have no issues.

So would you say it's on par with the scratch visibility of the darker iPhone 5?

My replacement Matt black 7 is just under a month old now with no marks on it at all. No screen protector, but it does have a soft clear tpu back cover that cost £5 from amazon.

You talking without a case?

Even with a case it's flawless while I thought my space grey got s few marks here and there even with a case.

Tried using matte black without a case but I just can't.

I have a deep nick on mine exposing silver Al near the lightning port where it's exposed by the Apple leather case. Probably caused by keys or something.

Next time I'm buying a Nomad case.

The edge to edge variant from ThanoTech is the best of both worlds. It's edge to edge but not 3D edge, so it's compatible with most cases.

Are you referring to the durability of the black aluminum or the black bezel? Your title & post are unclear.

My 7 is doing the same thing my 6s did. Bending. I believe the bending is caused by putting it in and taking it out of the case. I use a Siedio Convert case. Unfortunately, the phone is a real pain to remove/install from that case, BUT, it does provide the protection I need from drops and what not.
