I bought my iPhone (A1661 MN482LL/A) from Florida, USA but now I am residing in Istanbul, Turkey. Since my iPhone's battery started to fail me, I wanted to have it changed it at Apple by paying for it. Apple referred me to their local contractual service company called KVK. I booked an appointment and learned that, I needed to have my receipt from years ago with me because it was a US iPhone and even if I had it, Apple did not supply them with a battery suitable for US. based iPhone. I need recommendations guys:

1- Should I contact Apple international and let them figure out my problem?
2- If I were to open the phone myself and replace the battery, would an ordinary Apple battery (attached) be fit for my iPhone? What is the difference between a US based iPhone 7 plus battery vs Turkish based iPhone 7 plus battery?

Thanks in advance

Probably. This is more of a problem with the service provider. You do not need a receipt as you are paying for out-of-warranty service.

There is no difference because the battery is the same worldwide.

This sounds more like a service issue than anything else. Apple may not want to service certain devices in certain countries for whatever reason or the local provider is acting up. I don’t see why you should provide a receipt.

Contact Apple and see what they say.

Don't try to replace the battery yourself. Even Apple techs know that a battery replacement they do isn't 100% risk free. It's open heart surgery. Especially risky on the 7.

My view on battery replacements is - only replace the battery if it makes using the iPhone unbearable.

I called Apple and they let me know that they do not cover repair for my phone in Turkey. Because it was purchased in USA. It is close to being unbearable. Probably it will be unbearable before the end of year with being home all day and working partly from my phone due to the pandemic. I will have to have it either replaced by a non apple professional or by me. 😢

I have replaced the battery in an iPhone 7 before. It is not difficult but if you want to pay for it, Apple will give you a better quality battery for sure
