What is the purpose of the second camera on the back of the new iPhone? The inner second lens?

did you really ask that question?

Well as far as I know one is the telescopic zoom lens right?

I tried covering the inner lens, but my finger didn't block the screen whether I switch it from 1x to 2x. I mean I can still take pictures with the inner lens covered with my finger even if I switch between the wide and telescopic lenses.

This is because in order for the zoom lense to work it has to have sufficient lighting. Without sufficient lighting it just uses the normal lense, with digital zoom
