hello there

So here is the problem
The blue dot does not lock on my location and it keeps jumping around is it a software issue ? Or I have a faulty phone ?

Thanks

Yes I have the same problem on my 7 Plus and saw a few threads on Apple community forums about that !

I went to an Apple Store 2 days ago, they did a full hardware and software diagnostic but didn't find anything wrong. They said it could be an issue with the accelerometer, and my phone will be replaced under warranty (they didn't have one in stock when I went).

Of course I tried to restore my phone as new, but no change

I am going tomorrow to a store I'm just gonna try to walk in I'll update here on what happened and if the new phone will work as it should be

Inside or out side any kind of space it does the same

It looks like the GPS doesn't know my exhatct location it keeps jumping around it doesn't locking me in.

I have tried
Google maps
Waze

It does the same thing.

Mine seems just about the same as any other phone I've had. Only time I was frustrated was trying to find a place in Hong Kong last week but the buildings are so dense I had very little view of the sky in certain areas so I was going in circles.

So just an update on this post

I went to an Apple Store and I mentioned the problem I also show them what is going on and they swapped it with no further questions.

I did made a Hard reset/ And Fully restored from iTunes but nothing was fixed. That's why I went to an Apple Store

A friend of mine had the same issue. GPS would never lock, not even after a full factory reset, outside with the sky in plain view. It was swapped at the Apple Store, no questions asked. The new one works.

On my iPhone 7 Plus the GPS never worked properly to monitor my races (Runkeeper and Strava).
They changed my cell phone and continued with problem, this is something structural!
I hope they provide a solution.

Plugged into car USB port by any chance? A lot of Subaru owners have been having this issue where when plugged into the cars USB port it will not track location.

I had the same issue (there is a similar thread under iPhone). I ended up doing the same thing as you. Brought it to my Apple Store and they swapped it out without any problems.

Happened to my iPhone 6 when iOS 10 came out and towards the end of iOS 9. Somehow iOS 10.3 fixed it cause when I went to France I had more data than my mom so she asked me to use it. And for some odd reason it was working.

My iPhone 6 GPS issues are sporadic, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't (and yes not just due to usual factors like being inside. It will lose GPS on a road trip when other iPhones in the car maintain it, etc.)

Sometimes it's obscured by the fact that wifi and cell towers also provide location (less accurately). You may think GPS is working when you have a relatively precise wifi location. I believe your location only pulses in Maps when it's GPS, though not 100% sure.

I believe heat may affect it, as well as small knocks and so on, which slightly adjusts the connections to the antenna

I tried using my gps the other day since I wanted to try out the Apple Watch with the phone while getting directions and it showed I was 20km away. So I ordered a new wifi/Bluetooth/GPS and new battery (battery sucks right now) and now I'm waiting for it to get here to fix. I'm hoping it works cause my Bluetooth is eh along with my wifi connection. My 5S wifi and Bluetooth connection is way better.
