I just had a customer service chat on the apple.com website. seems like all pre-order folks get expedited shipping. not sure what that means though.. this was our conversation:

I ordered an iphone 7 plus, jet black 256gb on 9/9
i was just informed today that it will deliver by 11/11
is there any way to get the phone any earlier? and can i expedite my shipping? it currently says standard shipping
8 weeks is a really long time to wait for something that was pre-ordered an hour upon launch
I completely understand where you’re coming form. I also ordered on pre-order day, I stayed up just so I could be in its as quick as possible, I chose the Jet Black as well. Mine isn’t shipping out until November as well because there is such a high demand for those Jet Black models.
I do apologize for the wait, however once it has been processed for shipment all pre-orders are being expedited free of charge!
There is a possibility it can ship out sooner, but I can’t guarantee that.
i understand. does expedited shipping mean that it be next day shipping?

It doesn’t necessarily mean next day shipping because we cannot guarantee that, but it does have priority shipping. We want to make sure everyone’s getting their phones as quickly as possible, because there is such a high demand it is taking a little but longer than Apple would lie however, there is always a possibility it could get shipped out sooner!

i mean we are seeing folks who have oct 31 ship dates getting charged now.
my guess is next week early novembers (nov 4) get charged then one week later recieve.
then late nov dates get the following week.
in short- early nov (nov 4) - recieves early 2nd week of oct.
nov 11( late 2nd week of oct)
Late nov 18 =early 3rd week of oct.
that is the projection by GADGETFREAKY!!!!

I finally got a shipping date! November 18th!?! Ugh. Time to stop checking my order now. I think I'm gonna put my focus on istock and hope I can score a walk-in over the next 6-7 weeks.
How would the storage size not effect ship date? The 256 may very well ship sooner due to less demand.
So happy all of you are getting date estimates. I ended up finding a matte black 7+ and bought it today, so I am cancelling my preorder. I tried online and it would not let me, so I will call tomorrow. Enjoy your beautiful jet black beauties, hope they get to you sooner rather than later. 
Because they have plenty of chips, it's the color that's holding them up. They don't make the same number of all storage sizes, they match production with demand very well. It's already been proven that availability of devices on the smaller carrier networks is better on all color and size devices. That being said, with the 256 having less demand, they will make less devices, thus you having less of a chance of getting one. Make sense. The most popular one, they're making the most of will be more available.
Cancelled my order. Best date I could get was 11-23. I will take my chance checking local stock in October. Hopefully I can get lucky next month at the local Apple Store once they start getting more phones in.
All I know is if I don't see movement in a week I'm cancelling. Doesn't make sense that I preorder a phone, have to wait two months and come next year, will have to pay 3 month early for a phone i didn't use. Ridiculous. Thinking this might be a sign to just wait it out till iPhone 8.
I think its simply a default date they give to the first few days post sale. I ordered 37 minutes after apple.com went live, and my date also changed to November 11th. I ordered a JB 126GB Plus AT&T model. I also know someone who ordered about a day after and also got a November 11th date. I think people who ordered within the first few hours will be getting shipping notifications next week. People who had late October dates, there phones are already being shipped.
Is your iPhone unlocked if you pay full price? Also, I am assuming they will price match with Apple...noticed that they are marking the iPhone 7+ up $100...in the past they've just marked them up $50.
It's still through Verizon on the trade in device plan, was the same price, just have to pay Verizon my upgrade fee of $20
I ordered a whole week later 9/16 and just got a date of Nov 18th. 7+ JB 128 AT&T. I'll keep checking to see if the apple stores get them in sooner. In the meantime, feel free to cancel your orders maybe it'll move the later dates closer

Jb 128gig 7+ got early morning on 9/9 using iup program. Thanks to all of u , I checked Apple Store app and saw I finally got a November date 11/11. I hope it all goes sooner.
How long does preparing for shipment take? I normally just order through sprint, first year going through Apple. Still no tracking... want my phone

I really think if I was to cancel my order and reserve a different phone just to get it now I will regret it in the long run. We want the jet black for a reason.
