iPhone 7 plus lines on screen

New phone just purchased. When the screen is off or asleep, we see faint vertical lines down the center. Strange thing is when we took it in to have it checked they weren't visible.

Operation seems fine. Is this defective?

Do you have a screen protector installed?

I can see vertical lines (3), but are you not concerned about the horizontal lines that cross near the center of your screen?
Seems to split the screen in quarters, with other pairs of marks near the center of each guarter?
Did it look like that on first day?

Looks like slight rubbing, which may eventually damage the screen.

Or, maybe it's just the store lighting. Take to a wireless store somewhere (just for a second opinion 😀 )

Are they visible at all when screen is active, like on a darker colored image or black background?

Screen has no protector at all. Was like that the night we took it out of of the box.

The lines can be seen on a high key background, but much less noticeable than on the idle screen as pictured.

Within the first 2 weeks, take it back to the store. Apple doesn't even need a reason for the return.

Unless you can somehow "unsee" or ignore those lines on the screen.

Looks like it could be suction marks affecting the oleophobic coating during the assembly process but I'm no expert just seems a reasonable explanation. But if it was within 2 weeks of purchase I'd definitely return it.
