About to setup my iPhone 7 Plus - any tips?

I'm going to do a fresh setup (not back up, restore from my 6 Plus).

• Is there anyway to get phone contact and notes off my 6 plus onto my 7 plus without using restore?
• Battery charging - so apparently its best not to full charge and full deplete the batteries in these phones - and keep them from 25/30%-80/90% range? -- is this correct for the for 7 Plus battery?
• But for the first time I charge it - do I charge it to 100%, or just take it out of the box and use it/deplete it to 0% or 25% and charge up to 80% or 100%?
• Any other set-up tips that might be useful?

Thanks in advance

sign into iCloud. you'll get contacts and some pictures/notes/reminders/calander/safari bookmarks. yea, its good not to let them completely die. i usually go to like 20 unless i'm out and didn't bring my portable battery pack. these batteries don't have any memory like nickel ones do. i'd just charge it to 100% if i were you.

if its not updated to 10.1.1 then do that first.

Do I sign into iCloud on my iPhone? or computer? I'm not sure what contacts if any I have on there. They are all on my iPhone I think...

or should I just manually key in all contacts again on my new phone?

-- Ok just checked on my iCloud account on my computer - I have nothing - no photos, no contacts, no notes. lol. How do I get these across?

you didn't have iCloud on your previous phone? if you did and log in during the set up your contacts should come back.

go to iCloud.com and log in with your apple id you use on your last phone and check there.

if if you still have your old phone just go to settings and iCloud and make sure the contacts was turned on.

do you have your old phone still? if so go back on there and turn on contacts and notes under icloud. give it time to upload and then it should sync with new phone once signed into icloud

As far as the battery goes, don't worry about it, just use the phone as you need/want to and charge it whenever you need/want to (for as long or little as you need/want to).

Thanks.

Ok I checked my old phone. I went into Settings > iCloud. And Contacts and Notes were turned off.

I just turned them on. Is there a Sync button I need to turn on?

My Contact's and Notes are still empty when I go to icloud.com on my browser on my computer. They haven't synced yet...

give it about 5-10min minutes or so. connect to wifi if you aren't already. you don't need to do anything else other than wait. you can set up your phone though, they should pop up once you're done setting it up probably.

Thanks. Yes wifi turned on.

Ok. It's been more than 15 minutes and Contacts and Notes is still blank in my iCloud account on the browser.

When I set up my new iPhone 7 Plus, will it "download" my Contacts and Notes to it automatically? But if it's not "uploaded" this data from my old iPhone to the iCloud server, then this is not going to happen. I'll give it an hour or two...

yea. i would wait first on your old phone. what you can do in the mean time is set up your phone, but don't sign into iCloud during the initial set up. do an update if you need to. then when you see it on iCloud.com (log out and log back in later) then go to settings and sign in there.

Thanks lakaiordie.

Ok I have signed in and out of my old phone and in & out of my iCloud.com account on the browser. Contacts have now updated – great! But Notes haven't "uploaded" to iCloud. Maybe give it another hour......
