I am upgrading from the 7 Plus. I ordered the XS. The screen will be bigger than what I have and the phone more pocketable. I got offered $295 from Gazelle for me iPhone so gonna likely do that as I prefer a check to an Apple gift card.

I'm still confused. So, you're paying the full price of the max minus $549? Or you're ONLY paying the price of the max because you gave them your iPhone X?

The reason why Apple Upgrade Program is more expensive is they include AppleCare + in the cost. The nice thing is the Phone you get from Apple in that program is unlocked day 1 so you can change carriers at will.

I'm only paying the price of the max.

I owe $549 on my current 8+.

I give them the 8+ and apple pays off the loan. Essentially they are buying it back from me for $549.

AT&T does the same thing on next if you choose to upgrade before it's paid off and after you've made a certain number of payments.

Yep, upgraded from a 7 Plus Black 128 to a XS Max Gold 256 as I wanted the oled screen and Animoji!

Nope. XS are unreasonably expensive, XR has way inferior in resolution, pixel density and sides ratio "best ever" LCD, no 3d touch, nearly the same cellular module. And true double SIM design is for China only, while no operators support e-SIMs in my country.

I haven't yet, but I am definitely looking into getting a Max 256gb.

My iPhone 7+ will be full paid in a few days, but what I'm confused about is how much credit towards the Max it will net me. Unless I did "AT&T Next Every Other Year" or whatever, and couldn't have upgraded 6 months ago (18mo out of 24).

Basically trying to get the most efficient method of receiving the Max and turning in my 7+...

Well since you're paying it off it's no longer part of an upgrade plan. So you're on your own. You could trade it in to apple but you won't get much. Better to sell it on your own with swappa. Or craigslist if you can stand it.

Going from 256GB iPhone 7 Plus silver to 512GB iPhone Xs Max Space Grey. My plus is 2 years old and is going to go to my fiance or my daughter. I also ordered the Apple Watch Series 4 GPS + Cellular, 44mm Space Black Stainless Steel Case with Space Black Milanese Loop

Should be $290 trade in value if it's paid off.

lol wtf do you need 512gb for?

No way, keeping my 7Plus Matte Black 128gb for a couple of years more. It works super extra fine and i love it.
Like the design more than the X. Probably will spend this money in vacation .
Just the homepod airpods for my wife and perhaps an apple watch 4 but doubt it. The price for the Xs Max 256 gb in Europe is 1539€.
So definitely will keep the 7plus for one or two more years.
Congrats to anyone buying the new stuff.

7 Plus feels so nice and light and thing next these new but ridiculous bricks/iPhones.

Why would you have to pay full price for the Xs Max if you're trading in your 7+ and have had it for 2 years.

Sorry! What I meant to say is that I have to pay for the the difference between full MSRP and trade in up front vs outing it on a payment plan in order to get the 5% Discover card rebate and double warranty benefits included with the card.

I dont like the notch I dont like the no home button I don’t like the Face ID thingy and I certainly can’t get my head around the thousand pound+ price tag that goes with the x max so for me il either keep my 7 plus or il upgrade to an 8plus either way I ain’t buying an x model...!

So if the notch is permanent on all iphones (and it's starting to be copied by some androids), what will you do?

Decided to preorder the 256 GB Max and try it out before upgrading my red iPhone 7+

So I guess you're gonna use the same phone for the rest of your life or get an android

Id like to believe that Apple will one day return to Touch ID but only time will tell.. tbh this phone will get updates for few more years yet it still runs sweet battery capacity to is at 94% so it’s still nice and healthy and I can keep ma home button lol...

That’s an easy one il keep what I have

Sweetie, home buttons are being phased out of generally all new smartphones, it's not coming back. The best to keep it would be a budget iPhone, but that's the Xr, which doesn't have it. You're welcome to keep your phone for as long as you like and use your 7+ or 8+ 30 years from now but nothing will change.

Well maybe the iPhone 11 will sweep me off my feet lol but I’m not bankin on it plus it also means I get to save my £1099 this year for a base model max lol

Am upgrading from the 7 Plus - last of the two year payments just paid. I love my 7 but want the new camera features. Wish I'd ordered sooner, I won't be getting mine until the first week in Oct.

I still love my black iPhone 7 Plus but have ordered two iPhone XS Max one of which I’ll keep, just have to decide on the colour. I really want the camera improvements and the glorious new OLED screen.

Hell yes.

The iPhone 7 Plus is literally the worst iPhone I've ever had - and I had a 6 plus with Touch Death. I was in the middle of a business trip and the 6 Plus finally died -and AppleCare had ran out a few months before on my 6 Plus - I was going to ride that out for a few years but I ended up grabbing a 7 Plus right before heading to South America for my last leg.

The battery life is horrendous and the bluetooth issues are untenable - robotic /satanic sounding calls, compatibility issues with the car, connection issues / skipping audio with multiple bluetooth speakers.

The 7 Plus offered literally no feature/functionality upgrades over the 6 plus except for the iterative things like faster Touch ID, and a better camera. Sure - it has Force Touch / 3D Touch - but that's a feature I can live without.

Hoping the XS Max redeems itself.

No, I'm not paying that ridiculous price for an Xs Max 256 GB. I'll keep my 7 Plus for now. Maybe next year the base model will be 128 GB, which would be enough. Wishful thinking maybe though.

However, I will order an Xr to replace my wife's 6s.

I am upgrading from the 7 Plus. I ordered the XS. The screen will be bigger than what I have and the phone more pocketable.
The screen of the Xs is a bit smaller than the 7 Plus.

The effective screen size of the 7 Plus is 414 x 736 = 304704 display points.
The effective screen size of the Xs is 375 x 812 = 304500 display points (minus the notch).

In terms of actual surface area, the 7 Plus is 4.79" x 2.70" = 12.93 square inches.
In terms of actual surface area, the Xs is 5.27" x 2.43" = 12.81 square inches (minus the notch).

For 16:9 video, the image will be much larger on the 7 Plus though, since that depends only upon the width, 2.7" on the 7 Plus vs 2.43" on the Xs.

I have a jet black 7 Plus. I've already ordered my Max (LOL) and plan on boxing the 7 Plus for backup. I always like to have a spare phone on hand just in case.
