As rumors indicate only iPhone 7 plus will get dual camera then what will be the selling point of iPhone 7 without dual camera? They should introduce dual camera on both models
Please stop trying to make sense from a consumer's perspective. ;) This is not Steve Jobs' Apple we are talking about. This is an Apple that wants to artificially designate a "premium flagship" model based on honking hugeness and a near $1000 price tag. I myself fell for this twice and got the Plus sized iPhones just to get OIS. Well I had enough of that and went to the SE and learned I can do just fine with the lesser specced camera. Cell phone cameras all have limitations anyway. OIS is awesome but at the end of the day does me little good if I'm not able to have the iPhone with me all the time because it's too big to carry and wield comfortably and discreetly.

Although I will try to give them the benefit of a doubt that the dual camera module can fit only into the larger iPhone body.

Yes agreed. I am also using iPhone 6 plus and iPhone 6s plus for the same purpose(high spec than iPhone 6s) and now at this time i am completely i mean i can't carry around these tiles any more, itch strared for a small phone and somehow can't convince myself getting the iPhone se or iPhone 6s as iPhone 7 is just few months away.was planning to get iPhone 7,and now this :( only plus model will get dual camera, can't make my mind

Apple really care about how it's iPhone looks. iPhone isn't the most sophisticated looking device like a Samsung for example, they always been classy, stylish, but yet simple. If a duel lens takes away from that look then I don't believe apple will do it. Unless they find an awesome way to do it without out it looking like an HTC phone from 4 to 5 years ago...

I think two lens going on is too much for Apple unless they conceal it where it looks like one lens somehow. I don't know much about duel lens or how perfected it is? If there is room for Apple to create/ add something to a more simple lens system to improve it then they will...

HTC in the past made some really goofy phones, kickstand lol, extended battery with kickstand on the back of it (htc thunderbolt) they also made that 3d camera phone came out like 2010. HTC 3D I think they called it lol...

Apple don't need the highest spec camera and they don't. The software is second to none however. I believe the camera on the iPhone 7 will be single lens or a hidden duel lens in a round border. A lens is round and I believe apple will always have a single circle round border around it's lens like it has from day one up until now... Cameras have improved, but overall camera design is the same concept for all iPhones.

Right on. This is Tim cooks Apple where choices are to be had. Phones from $399 to $1000 with all sorts of hardware in between. The trend toward premium flagships is already in place and I expect it to continue.

I don't think I'd object to the concept of a premium flagship model if it were based on something other than restricting features that could be accommodated on either sized iPhone to just the largest model. Not for technical reasons, but just to keep the larger iPhone "premium". That's aggravating as heck for the not insignificant number of us who, for various reasons, can't or won't use a huge phablet.

I question how you could know apples' rational for why it makes certain decisions on what hardware goes into each phone.

I don't "know" anything. I'm being a presumptuous ass. It will be interesting to see if the next release sees some of my suspicions confirmed if they "trickle down" to the smaller model features previously restricted to the Plus, like OIS.

There still could be a reason other than "a money grab" as to why certain Features are included only on certain models.

I don't think tim cook is going to do that,it will kill (or effect)the sales of plus model which is more profitable business than smaller one

Conspiracy theories abound.:D Rather than being something technical, something made up, made up due to speculation on top of a rumor, is being postulated.
That's how we have fun around here now that there is more than one model to grouse about. :p I wish I had been here back when it was just one iPhone model per season. And then when they went two two color variants...I wish I had seen the discussion about that! I'll have to peek at the archives sometime.

Actually I normally do try to put more thought into my musings, but I've been recovering from surgery, and now a virus, and on top of that I'm not a morning person. It's a wonder I didn't spam this thread with Shiba inu like I did the other thread you and I were posting on this morning. :D

wish you a speedy recovery. as an aside I enjoy reading your posts.:p

I seriously doubt Apple won't release the dual camera in the 7 Plus. Its going to be the primary driver of sales and a complete game changer.

For example, if you look at the Apple TV's app/movie tiles, they include a parallax effect that changes their perspective.

This is exactly what the new dual lens will be able to reproduce... with our photos.. in real time. Combine that with live photos and you have some crazy Harry Potter shenanigans going on.

Just imagine taking a photo then setting it as your wallpaper. Now, instead of just a single layer of parallax effect going on, your entire background photo shifts depending on how you've positioned your phone.

Not to mention, we'll be able to record video and shift the perspective in real time as we watch them back.

If this is announced on Wednesday as I predict, you have a complete game changer coming.
