iPhone 7/Plus iPhone 7 Poor LTE

I have been experiencing no LTE connection issues where my wife has good connection on her iPhone 8 plus, especially indoors.
We are on the same family plan on T-Mobile.
I am guessing newer iPhones have more frequencies they can use.
Is that right?
