If this is true the competition will have some catching up to do. It's beginning to look more and more promising by the day. That's great, I'm ready to ditch my iPhone 5 right now and get the new one ASAP.

It won't be the iPhone 7 though. It will be the 6s with the same physical hardware design. Apple isn't giving up their cash cow of being able to use the same chassis for two years.

Also, the article never really stated anything other than the current rumors cloating around. Like you alluded to: if the chassis is the same then it'll just be the 6S.

I think the only reason why they went with "The New iPad" was so that it would not be that obvious that there was a new one when the "iPad with Retina Display" was released. iPad 3 and then iPad 4 would have gotten more people to realize that there was a new one out there.

Catching up, in what way? Other than force touch what has the iPhone got that android hasn't?

No thanks. I don't see what is so bad about the iPhone 6 to skip an S generation. Flashing back to before the 5S was released, I would never have believed that they would put a fingerprint scanner on an S phone. At first I thought that they wouldn't do the same with Force Touch, but then I looked at what they did with the 5S, and accepted it.

Yes this is all true and you are silly not to wait for the forth coming holy grail of iphones... Lol another one of these threads...
