Most plausible. There is one forum I frequent people asking how they open the laptop CD tray, where is it? Answer: it doesn't have a CD drive duh!

My matte black SIM tray isn't flush. I assumed it had something to do with the added gasket.

My jet black 7+ arrived with a sim tray that was slightly protruding but after I removed it and reinserted, it was flush with the case.

Curious to see if any other Jet Black iPhone 7 owners notice that the sim tray isn't flush with the case. According to the video below, all 3 of their JB iPhone 7 sim trays were not totally flush with the case.

If you hold it just right, I think I can see diagonal lines on the SIM card cover!

Mine is flush - once you properly seat the rubber gasket. No different than any other water resistant phone I've set up over the years.
