Bored at work and interested in the discussion.

7/7 Plus users, will you be upgrading to the new flagship this year or will you be waiting for a two year cycle? Why/why not?

I'm pretty in love with my 7... and also in love with the fact that I've paid half of it off, so the jury's still out for me.

If it's the "iPhone God Edition" that everyone's been predicting, and is still priced at under $1,000... then I might just upgrade. Otherwise, I'll wait for the next one.

I can't really see Apple adding all of the following in a single iteration:
  • OLED, 5.8 inch curved screen
  • Brand new design with glass/stainless steel
  • "TouchBar" replacing the home button
  • Screen-Integrated TouchID
  • Wireless charging
  • VR/AR cameras
  • Iris scanning technology
I mean, if they do, great! I'd love to buy it. But still too early for me to get excited.

I'm not so sure. I've always regretted being an early adopter each time.

I think I'll go incremental then see how I feel about it next year.

I will upgrade if the latest rumors prove to be accurate with OLED and a Stainless casing. I like my 7 Plus, but I'm Ready for a change after the same design for three years in a row.

I will if it doesn't have have Touch ID on the back if it does i will probably keep my 7. Just depends. But I really hope they keep the Touch ID on the front. I think it would be stupid to put it on the back.

I have had every single iPhone since the 3G minus the 5c. I upgrade yearly, but I am not interested in an OLED display, vertical camera, Touch ID on the back (or not at all). I love the viewing angles and versatility of IPS and I will not give up Touch ID at all. My Apple Watch is literally useless in direct sunlight, even the S2 is all washed out.

Hard to even speculate when there really isn't anything to speculate on at this point. I love my iPhone 7 but I don't know what I am comparing it against at this point.

I knew the 7 wasn't going to be a patch on the 8 so it was really the 7 I bought but didn't need. I'll be getting the 8 for sure, whether I get the Edition or not is too early to say.

I have a 7plus and yes as soon as apple start taking pre orders for whatever iPhone is coming next I will be ordering one. But I just love spending money...

depends on the trade-in deals the carriers offer up. i wont get the full credit for trading in my 6 for a 7 if i don't wait the full 24 months

I Understand your first generation Apple Watch having visibility issues in direct sunlight. What do you mean the S2 is all washed out?

The amount one can save in a 401k (~$55K per year) is probably trivial for an Apple board member. After tax accounts or trusts are probably far larger. I reckon the dividends and rise in stock prices is probably nice, though.

My older sister has an S2 Apple Watch and in direct sunlight it's washed out. Even with the "fancy" brighter screen. Direct sunlight still makes it almost unusable.

Yes, I always have two iPhones. One for work and one for personal use. I upgrade each one every other year and it gets used the most for that year lol.

Yes I'm a sucker for shiny new tech. Especially when a redesign is involved

Too early to say. I really like my iPhone 7 plus. If the new upgrades are considerable and ones that I think I will make use of, I will consider buying, I am not concerned about having the latest and greatest every release.

Ether way I am still popular. :D

With all the reports of production difficulties, I'm sensing this "iPhone 8" could wind up being one of those problematic "-gate" releases (as in the "antenna-gate" iPhone 4, and the "bend-gate" iPhone 6).
So, I'm inclined to skip the first "8" version, and let the early adopters help Apple work out the bugs.

I'm actually growing weary of lugging huge and heavy slabs of glass in my pocket, so I just might trade in my 7+ for the rumored "7s" next go-round.

Undecided but will probably pick one up at some point after it has been released for awhile. It will have to have some killer feature in order to get me to rush out and buy it. If for some reason they do away with touch id as one rumor suggests that would make it a no go for me. That is just too convenient to live with out.

If the new OLED screen is just too shiny and sexy I may be like a moth to the flame. Other than that I can't think of a compelling reason to run out and get it. Some of the rumors about charging may be the killer feature as well though I guess. haha you can see I am undecided even while writing this. I guess to make a short story long Apple will have to help me justify the price.

I can say no I won't now but after it comes out...I will lol

Had every model since the 4S when I came back to iOS, many times I would say I'd skip a year but ended up upgrading

work expenses ;)
