Hello,
I recently got my hands on iphone 7 and i m very disappointed, coming from iphone 6,the voice quality is very sort of distorted and unclear that makes it difficult to understand what the other person is saying, its really crappy and very poor in quality.
I have read many users having this problem,i dont know what can be the cause and what can be the solution.

i have noticed on the 10.3.2 beta 5 the voice quality was a "little bit" better on calls. what carrier are you on?

Absolutely ditto, its quite better on 10.3.2 beta 5,i am on airtel india with carrier settings 28.2 although its not a carrier issue because tried many carrier sim cards but the issue remains same, btw what model no iphone are you using

I'm on Sprint with latest beta and also have this exact same issue.

I think it's hardware related bc this persists on 4 iPhones tested since yesterday.

One on stock iOS with an iPhone 7+. Two phones on the latest iOS dev beta with one 7+ tested on cricket wireless.

Please report this voice issue in the beta bug report app!!!!

If you believe thats a hardware problem than why do you want to be reported as a software bug,for me its actually a software related issue because the voice in whatsapp calls or any other calls other than native phone calling works fine.

Sprint cdma version I guess... I received my iPhone slime 1-2 months after release.

I opened the phone brand new out of the box when I received it.

Is this a brand new phone or secondhand?

There was a run of problems with the early batch of 7s.
Mine was purchased in october 16

I went to the Apple Store and they did the audio test, it failed the mic test but then they cleaned it.... passed the mic test and said it's good!!!!

Definitely not good at all, very frustrated with my first iPhone!!!!

im wondering if these call quality issues are software related. kinda seems as if they are.

Might be related but I've went to Sprint stores and apple since the fall, if it's ongoing public release and beta, maybe....It's been persisting since fall of 16 after release and to this day!!!!

I have insurance and finally going to do handset swap this or next week.

My earlier device model was a1660 and now i have been given a1778 which is my country specific as the previous one was a US purchased phone

I hope I didn't miss something but does your phone have voice over LTE (under cellular data options in settings, it's under Enable LTE > voice and data)? Sprint is a CDMA carrier and voice is carried over the CDMA chip if VOLTE isn't activated. If it's activated, you'll have a much crisper sound if you're talking to another person with the same thing activated. Again, please forgive me if I'm wrong. I'm with Verizon, another CDMA carrier and that's how it works with us.

Same experience....

Phone replacement and only one caller has complained instead of every other!!!!

Going from s7 edge and tested lg g6 and s8+, iPhone 7+, even after replacement has worse sounding phone I've ever owned!!!

This issue will be big, bc I want to upgrade to iPhone 8 bc I now like the iOS ecosystem better than android but call quality might make me switch after the iPhone 8 release.

Even i m deeply frustrated with it,such a highend flagship device and the call quality totally horrible makes me ditch this device, actually i think the issue is because they have enabled the earpiece to work as a loudspeaker, according to me thts causing the issue.

I have a 7+ that I got last November. I heard too many times when on a call that people could not hear me and my voice was quite garbled.

Took it in and they tested Mic and speakers. Found one speaker bad. Replaced the broken speaker that day in store. Used it some more but still got comments from people I was trying to call.

Booked another appointment 2 weeks ago. This time they replaced the whole phone. But now I am still hearing from people that say they cannot hear my voice when using the BIM on the iPhone.

This is very frustrating. Do I keep going back to Apple?
