Assuming I have Applecare+ on my iPhone 7+, can I just walk into an apple store, pay the $99 delectable and walk out with a new iPhone 7+?

Maybe, but you would be much better phoning up first and making an appointment.

Ok, assume I make an appointment. They'll give me a brand new iPhone 7+ to replace my existing iPhone 7+?

I haven't tried Applecare+ for that, but maybe best to have a chat first with a genius rep to see if you can do that via walk in. When I wanted to have my Apple Watch replaced, the genius at the store told me to call and ask for express replacement instead since it took longer for Apple to ship the replacement to the store. Not sure about iPhones, but it's best to check first before you go all the way to the store and be disappointed.

Well no. What's wrong with your current one?

Something has to be wrong with it for them to replace it with a refurbished one. If the screen needs replacing, I think it is $25 under AppleCare+ to get the screen replaced.

Now that said, I've never had a problem with them just giving me a new phone but I've had some serious issues (red screen kernel panic, dropped phone and bent chassis after accidentally stepping on it, etc...) but those were all FREE replacements.

It's been dropped a couple of times so it has dents and dings so I was thinking about just paying the $99 to get a new one before I sell it.

Edit: A couple of dings and dents - see the below posts - these guys know way more than I do :).

Definitely make an appointment if you ever go to an Apple Store.

Cosmetic scratches and dings are not covered under AC+. Meaning that if it does not prevent use of the device, then you can't use your deductible to get a replacement. Even a scratch on the screen is not enough to warrant a screen replacement. It's all outlined in the T/C of AC+.

Cosmetic damage is not covered.
But if you accidently drop the phone in water and it doesn't work at all you will get a quick replacement. Just sayin'....

That's not how the plan works...

Unless you damage the phone yourself, go for it and pay the $99 and they will give you a new refurbished

I find it almost impossible to get a replacement now, they try and repair anything and everything and replacement is a last resort

What scam? If your phone is water damaged and you have AppleCare + they can't deny you lol

Ironically i walked into an Apple Store last year and the Genius was like „to be quite honest i would suggest you togo back home and take a „bath“ if you know what i mean and come back later. Otherwise we will just fix the screen“
