Do we think that Apple will finally put equal specs on both phone sizes? Notably the camera! I have a 7 Plus and used a 7 for a while and really like the smaller frame but hate not having the better camera.

With respect to the new iPad Pro releases and identical specs minus size, do you think Apple will follow that on the iPhone?

No. Apple wants to create a separation for both models. Last year, with the dual camera,
Apple heavily marketed the Plus model. That's what Apple Wants, Is the consumer to purchase the more expensive, larger model with the latest specifications.
The iPad Pro 12.9 is more expensive than the 10.5 and the only separation is size. It sucks, I know many people that prefer the 7 size but go for the 7 plus for the camera

The larger more sophisticated and expensive phone to get the "Power Users" who just must have the newest, most powerful phone available.

The smaller less sophisticated and less expensive phone to get the rest of the Apple Fans.

A few years ago there was a large number of people complaining that Apple was not making a larger format iPhone that they wanted and thus was loosing sales. So the iPhone 6+ and 7+ were made available. However Apple loaded them up with features that were not put on the iPhone 6 or 7, therefore people began filling up bandwidth on forums like this asking endlessly "Which iPhone should I get?"

I'm more worried about where the Touch ID will be. Hoping it's gonna be under the screen but there's got to be a reason apple is making the iPhone 8 power button longer. And they also patented fingerprint scanner on the power button today.

Last year I was convinced I was going to ditch my 6+ (which I chose for the camera's OIS) and get the 7. Then Apple whipped out the 7+ with dual cameras and I was like...damn it...have to go for the plus model again...

Apple knows what they're doing.

Anything can happen with each release, but we've seen in the last couple of years how the + models have additional features and that includes the camera.

I don't see this trend changing.

Surprised this thread (or another on the iPhone 8) hasn't exploded. Or have I missed it??

I think the longer power button is so people with different sized hands can reach it.

Fingerprint scanner possibility: 1 - front display.......2 - daylight........3 - rear, 4 - power button.

I'm hoping the facial recognition is also a decent backup method to unlock the phone as my fingers get torn up a bit & my prints can be undetectable at times...(both iPhone 6s & iPad Air 2).

The whole form factor of this "8" model's perfect for me. The + size is too impractical for my work, so to have a model that's smaller, yet with a larger screen = sweet spot. Eager to upgrade.

Yeah the way my iPhone 7 has been acting a few days it isn't gonna matter to me where Touch ID sensor is cause I'm really close to just selling the iPhone and buying a galaxy s8.
