From my understanding, Apple reports on the tech spec page that the 8 and 8 Plus lasts about the same as the 7 and 7 Plus respectively. I take it that A11 is super efficient. As long as i get similar usage time out of it on the 8 Plus, I would be fine.

That really does piss me off. The iPhone 7 Plus, has really good battery life, and with the new A11 chipset, which is very efficient, and takes less power, I was thinking, great, the 8 Plus will go a step beyond the already good 7 Plus battery life, and get even longer life. But not when they make the battery actually smaller :(

So now it's just the same battery life, Where it could have been even better.

That's what I hate sometimes, they make better more efficient, less power hungry processors, but then want to keep the phone thin, so they compromise by putting in a smaller battery. I wouldn't mind if the 8 Plus was a CH thicker, and kept the bigger battery,

Yeah my thing is couldn't they make the phone thicker slightly (enough to get rid of the darn hump) and then that can house the wireless charger and then the battery can remain the same size?

I was on the fence of buying the 8 Plus soon, but now I won't. Wanted something with even better battery life than the 7 Plus. I thought the 7 Plus gave me great battery life, but some days after a busy workday and then wanting to go out for the night afterwards, I would get low on battery life.

Point is, I don/'t want the same battery life as the 7 Plus, I want something that goes a little further. Doesn't need to be way better, or unrealistically longer battery life, but still 10% or so extra battery life would have been great. I will give up wireless charging for a bigger battery.

I hope real-world usage of the battery life of this year's models will be the same (or better) than last year's.

I take lab test results with a huge amount of salt.

I would take a larger battery over a savings of XX grams...every single time.

Although I agree, I would take battery life over thinness any day, you can never have too much battery, I would guess that they did this to keep the form the same, that way they don't have to invest in making new cases etc again.

Let's not forget too, Apple see every 0.1mm thinner as progress for some reason... to them adding 0.5mm (an amount I'm sure everybody would actually welcome) would be counter-progress.

Funny though that they say ' about the same ' as opposed to a specific number.

Yeah what was up with the more than 2 hours than the iphone 7 thing when they talked about the X. All marketing. Basically more than the 7 and less than the 7+

Also I wonder for all the iOS 11 users is it more battery efficient as well? I am assuming yes. Coupled with A11 maybe it is even better. Yes I realize in the end the best way to get battery is bigger battery but maybe apple got it right this time

I am pretty bummed on the drop in battery size from the 7 Plus to the 8 Plus. I understand the A11 is way more efficient, and less power hungry, but with Apple reducing the battery size to approx. 2,600mAh on the 8 Plus from approx. 3,000mAh on the 7 Plus. Apple says they will have approx. the same overall battery life.

But imagine of the 8 Plus had the same size battery as the 7 Plus, and also having the A11 too, that would equate to a possibly 20% better battery life on the new 8 Plus. But what they did, was just keep battery life the same. But I want to see benchmarks, the 8 Plus may even be slightly worse on battery due to the smaller size.

The bets of both worlds is having the new more efficient processor, as well as the larger battery. Both of those combined would = super battery beast.

So with the reviews coming out for the iPhone 8 Plus yesterday, I didn't see super detailed battery life tests, just generalizations, that it seems on par with the 7 Plus.

But I'd like to see specific tests really showing how the two phones ( 8 Plus vs 7 Plus ) are for battery life
