Curious if anyone has tested this and seen a noticeable difference?
I was on a flight with my sister. She has a 8+ I have a 7+. While at cruising altitude she was able to lock onto her GPS position with ease, where my phone couldn’t at all. Can’t remeber if we were connected to WiFi or not, or if that had anything to do with it.

When we got off the plane, I used both phones for directions to our destination and I was immediately surprised how accurate her phone was compared to mine. Almost hyper accurate gps maybe within a foot or two?

Anyways, after some research I read about the new gps chips in the new phones and I wonder if Apple will leverage everyone with the new phone to build some hyper detailed gps mapping of the world...

How can I recognize when buying an Iphone 7 that it is the model with Galileo chip? Is there a new version/model number? Like an upgraded version of the original Iphone 7?

Apple has extended Galileo support to iPhones 6S.
Personally, I didn't notice any position accuracy improvement even though 3 to 5 galileo satelittes fly over North America.

Perhaps Apple should develop an app disclosing what type of gps is in use with all pertinent datas.
