I have had air drop set to accept everyone on both ends and still doesn't work.
I'm going to assume it's my mac, since I was able to airdrop with another iphone 8.
well, back to emailing photos I suppose.
I had the same problem with my new iphone 8+, and after several hours on the phone with AppleCare attempting to reinstall OS on phone, I went into Apple Genius Bar with the phone and my computer. We tried it there with my computer and an erased phone to see if it was a corrupted phone, this did not work. Got a new iphone 8+- tried it again... no luck. So...they broke out the triage unit (literally what they call it) and tried using it on my computer to see if it was my computer or the OS. They tested my phone and other instore sample models with this to see if it was my back up corrupted-or just the actual 8+. Turns out- the iphone 8+ is not compatible with El Capitan. They determined this by trying Sierra with triage on my computer-it worked with the 8+ -both with back up and instore sample model, but the triage El Capitan did not work with any 8+ at all.
I may update to Sierra (will have to buy new software or use monthly sub. cloud software with some-so not too attractive) OR may just sacrifice Airdrop.
We will see.
I should add that both my ipad 5 (current updated OS) and iphone SE work fine with the computer- it is something about the actual 8+ -not the 8+ OS-apparently. I would guess any model after the 7 is going to have these same problems.
I don't think Apple is really aware of this problem, as everyone working there was baffled by this issue. I am hoping they do an update that will address this, but not sure if that is realistic.
