I thought I had the perfect iPhone 8 display until I switched to the landscape mode today to read something. And boom I noticed that the display was slightly uneven in terms of tint. Steps to recreate.

1. Turn off true tone. EDIT : Actually works with true tone on too.

2. Open safari. New tab.

3. Rotate phone to the left so the earpiece speaker is on the left and charging port on the right.

Compare the grey areas marked in the screenshot. They are slightly different for me. The left side is slightly bluish grey vs the yellowish grey at the edge near the home button.

Is this because the LCD is top lit? Would anyone know the arrangement on other phones for LED?

You do realize that a screenshot will not show any issues with the display? Not saying you don't have the issue, but if you think you are seeing it on a screenshot, then it might be your vision that is the issue.

I think op's just trying to show you where to look on your own phone.

Maybe, he was asking us to look at the two different areas on his screenshot and how they looked different to him. Maybe I misinterpreted that.

Due to the LCD backlight, you may have uneven tones, brighter/darker areas in your display. Whether OLED (no backlight) or LCD, it is still lottery with the displays.

Omg this is so stupid. I feel stupid actually.

I just checked using a color picker and the screenshot itself has different colors!!!

Have a go at it!

My mistake, they look the same on my 8 plus. I don't see a difference.

I just used a color picker to check and there actually is a difference in the screenshot itself so you definitely should so it in person also. :)

The keyboard has a slight amount of transparency so the uneven colors you are seeing on the keyboard are likely due to that.

I actually tried with gboard now. Which according to color picker has the same color on either side but I can see slight difference on my screen :/
