iPhone 8 no visual voicemail

I have a sim-free iphone 8 plus and i cant get ATT visual voicemail through the native phone app. its usually supposed to self-provision. i called ATT, they reset the voicemail, i went through the setup again, they said provisioning looks ok. I called Apple and they said that sim-free iphones still fully support carrier visual voicemail.

I'm kind of stuck. Don't really want to spend half the day going to the city to replace it.

Any ideas?

Maybe get a new sim? Apple’s right - I’m using a sim free iPhone on Cricket (AT&T) and visual voicemail works fine. So something is definitely up on AT&T’s end.

iPhone 8+ here on VZW and I've got no issues with visual voice mail either.

Maybe reset your network settings? General/reset/reset network settings

ya i tried network reset but didnt do anything. the only thing my voicemail tab has is a CALL VOICEMAIL button in the middle

Keep calling AT&T until they figure it out.
You don't need to replace the phone.
See if you need to get a new sim though.

ended up a improperly registered IMEI . rep fixed it for me and it works now
