Carried out a little fast charging experiment using the 29w Apple charger.

Note that I didn’t disconnect Wi-fi or Bluetooth and these results are from a powered down state. Not quite the 50% in 30mins but could’ve got closer had I activated Airplane mode

so 2hrs for a full charge? I feel like my 10w iPad brick i've had at work the past couple of years did that with my iPhone 6? even my mophie battery case charges my iPhone 6 pretty quickly.

something isn't syncing up here, or apple is measuring the 50% in 15 minutes on the 65W charger?

Yep - surprised at the drop off after the hour mark. Pretty sure Apple quoted the 29w charger in their literature too

Edit:

From Apple.com

Fast-charge capable:
  • Up to 50% charge in 30 minutes9

9.Testing conducted by Apple in August 2017 using pre-production iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus units and software and accessory Apple USB‑C Power Adapters (29W Model A1540, 61W Model A1718, 87W Model A1719). Fast-charge testing conducted with drained iPhone units. Charge time varies with environmental factors; actual results will vary.

whay qi charger u using?

It should be noted that these results are about the same for the Plus models as previously with the iPad charger, however the regular 6/6s/7 models did not get real fast charging previously with the iPad charger (they charged faster because there was more headroom to power the phone while charging, but the rate the battery could accept was capped). It may be that the new iPhone 8 charges considerably faster now - although I'd like to see one compared with an iPad 12W charger vs. the 29w charger.

Is there a way to WIRELESS fast charge?

Wireless charging this version is gonna be 5w, basic charging speed, but according to news outlets they are saying they are going to do a software update to increase it to 7.5w for wireless charging which is meh and not really that fast. Next year they will most likely add fast wireless charging.

This is the key factor. All Apple phones and other devices charge more quickly from 0 to 50%, than from 50% and above. In fact, it gets progressively slower, as it approaches 100%.

EDIT: Please see the bolded sentence in the lower part of the quoted post.

I thought I read somewhere that fast charging would be enabled with an update in the near future???
Thought I saw this was in reference to fast wireless charging

How do you make a graph like that OP? Is it an app? Or how would you get that data?
Yes it’s just a screenshot from the Numbers app on my iPad. Data was captured manually at 5 minute intervals by waking the screen

I have the Apple 29w charger and a Apple USB-C to USB adapter. Will I still be able to fast charge, but plugging in my lighting cable to the USB-C to USB adapater? I know probably dumb question, but just want to make sure. If I need a dedicated USB-C to lighting cord, then I will just exchange the adapter.

Posted a 12w comparison in the other thread (didn’t see there was another one). Something really looks off with my first test. I could only get to 45% in 30 mins in airplane mode and not the 52% I’ve see elsewhere. Until I get chance to repeat again I’m not convinced it’s worthwhile picking up the 29w if you already have an iPad charger around

Well...
Not sure what kind of “fast charhing” is this but my iPhone 7 Plus which does not support fast charge just charged up from 0-100 in exactly 100 minutes using Apple 29w/USB-C/Lightning cable.

0-50% in 35 minutes. That’s something close to the promissed 50% in 30 minutes.

The phone was connected to the Wi-Fi, LTE, and I was using notes time to time. iOS11.

P.S. For the OP it took 120 minutes to 100% as far as I see from the graph in the first post.
