i'm facing an issue with the silent switch on my 8 plus. When the phone is in standby mode with the screen off, switching the silent switch to the silent position does not trigger the vibration feedback to indicate that the phone is in silent mode. The vibration is triggered only when the screen is on. This is useful for me as need to know if my phone is in silent mode when i flip the switch when the phone is in my pocket. My 6s does not have this problem

Hasn't this changed sometime back either with iPhone 7 and/or iOS 10? My iPhone 7 doesn't vibrate when switched to vibrate mode neither when its awake or asleep. And as I recall this applies to other people as well.

Unless they changed it again with iPhone 9 (and/or iOS 11, although it still doesn't do it for me with iOS 11 on my iPhone 7).

Or is this mostly in relation to the feedback from system haptics?

I do not know if I would consider it a problem but my 7+ or 8+ do not vibrate when the screen is off and you flip the switch. Afraid you might have to trust the switch or pull his phone out to confirm.

In order for the phone to vibrate you have to have the "vibrate on silent" and "system haptics" options enabled in "sounds and haptics" section in settings. The problem is best described as severe lag from the time that you toggle the switch until you unlock the phone. It then "remembers" that it needs to vibrate to indicate that the switch has been set to silent

It's too bad they tied it to system haptics for some reason.

My 8+ is having the same problem, has been since it’s out of the box. It’s a huge bother as I often use the switch when my phone is in my pocket to make sure it’s on vibrate

Let’s hope its software related that will be fixed in a future update
