[iPhone 8 Preorder] How do I preorder the iPhone 8 from Apple if I'm already on a Verizon contract?

Hey all,

Quick back story. I purchased my iPhone 7 from a Verizon store on the day of release. For the iPhone 8, I am going to want to preorder through Apple's website.

The issue is, I have always just bought my phones from the Verizon store. For the iPhone 7, I got on that program where I slowly pay it off over the course of a year, and at the end of the year, I can trade up to the new Iphone.

My question is, since I'm already on this contract with Verizon, how do I preorder the iPhone 8 through Apple when the time comes? Will the Apple website somehow know that I have an upgrade coming up? What is the process of doing this when I am already on an active contract with Verizon?

I would contact Verizon to see when you are eligible for an upgrade since Apple's website won't let you order an upgrade unless you're eligible. If you are not eligible for an upgrade, you could add a line if you can afford it.

Carriers have been known to move upgrade dates closer to a new phone is released. You won't know until you ask. Good luck.

I just re-read your post. You will have to pay off the remaining balance before Apple can upgrade you. It may just be easier to stick with Verizon to order your next phone.

You can also make extra payments on your 7 or pay the phone off completely. That way when the new iPhone is released, you should be eligible to upgrade.

Log into the Verizon site and it will tell you when you are eligible to upgrade. You have to have paid off at least 50% of your current phone contract, in order to upgrade. You can pay off the balance at any time from their website.
