I purity much Googled iPhone 8 most of the year for rumor news and images.

Hurricane Irma, iPhone 8, and iPhone X were the world's three most popular search terms on Google this year

This proves interest in Apple's products is fading.

/s

And who said its fading?

Use Google services to search for Apple products. Buy Apple products to use Google services and apps. The full circle of most people's tech life.

Apple product + Google Search, YouTube, Chrome, Gmail, GMaps, Photos, etc. Keep seeing ads on YouTube and argue with strangers online to make Alphabet richer. Check out trailers, reaction vids, cool ads, and reviews for the next iPhone and the next.

Google, Apple, iPhone, Disney, Star Wars, superhero films, fast food, Starbucks, these will all be around forever and ever. Just milk them until the end of time.

The iPhone really are just vessels. Think of a ship. If no apps and services, it would be wandering around the ocean. These iPhones needs apps and services like Apple Music and such.

I learned to love iCloud. Not because I use it, I just like checking nudes of Jennifer Lawrence, Alison Brie, Brie Larson, and the devout Christian Aly Michalka, her sister AJ, and their mom topless. Thanks, Apple. Better than Celebrity Movie Archive and AZNude. Safe! Hacker-free! *wink wink*

iPhones being sold for the next 500 years or until we become mutants and gain super powers because checking on tiny screens became boring. In 2018, the next iPhone whether called Xs or whatever will be the next Top 3 search. Wait April. Because rumors of the next iPhone which likely looks the same and have incremental upgrades is vital even what color it offers. Life changer.

Search for the rumors of the next iPhone is on repeat with Google's search engine.

My number one search was a "how to" as well.
How to kill Phylakes with cursed weapons?

Assassins creed reference I see. I thought you were all about Forza.

Also, nice video by Google. Strong imagery.

Yes it was. Especially how they tied in the various searches with the current events that happened throughout the whole year. Brilliantly executed video.

When I read things like this in the context of the continued decline of the global socioeconomic outlook and unending community upheaval and general discontent felt by all but the extremely rich, I can't help but wonder if we're getting to a stage where the proposed release of some new material product is just about the only thing people have to be optimistic about and look forward to.

Don't waste your time telling me I'm being cynical. I know. Being cynical does not make me wrong.
After reading that, I think I need to see my shrink. Oh wait I almost forgot, we're expecting twins, our eldest just landed a wonderful and promising new job, and wouldn't you know it, I finally got that well-deserved raise.

Not gonna start playing FM7 'til Jan. All patches should be implemented by then. Plus some of the guys on my racing team are waiting until XMas to get the game so we are still racing in FM6. AC is awesome, and huge, and awesome. 100 hours in and still having fun.

I agree. 'Twas a good job.

Is this based on exact match parameters? Otherwise it could easily be negative like „my IPHONE 8 does not work“ „iOS is being crap on my IPHONE 8“

"iPhone" has been one of the top Google searches for the last 10 years. It is just a formality to announce this.

Google and Apple might be rivals now but they really do help each other like Samsung helps them both out.

Google search iPhone = money
YouTube search iPhone = money

Service (Google), gather info
Hardware (Samsung), manufacture
Software/Ecosystem (Apple), end product

Goes around in a circle. They're all winners.

Or an alternative use case:

Search for Apple products in Apple.com. Use Bing and hotmail. Buy Apple products to use Apple services.

Disclaimer: I do use gmail, but could have easily used any other email service as gmail is no longer unique.

Always nice to know what the world looks like from the tech world. LOLs.

Now when I search for things on google it says "report inappropriate result". Why doesn't it say report wrong result? Say I searched for iPhone 8 and got returns about how to clean my car - thats not inappropriate thats wrong. I don't even know what an inappropriate result is - I search for iPhone and it shows me pornography?

Dude, who Googles how to make a protest sign? You just get some poster board and write with a marker.

People searched iPhone 8 before Apple announced it and iPhone X later since iPhone 8 & X was iPhone 7s & 8.
Thank you for repeating what the article said basically verbatim.

Stay humble my friend. Tech empires crumbled before and will crumble again and beyond. Just look what happened to Nokia, BB and such. They were top of the mountain, especially Nokia in mobile.
As true as is it is that any company can fail, Apple is far more powerful than Nokia or Blackberry even at the very top of their games.

Apple is FAR different than those companies and far more successful and valuable. They also have the biggest mountain of cash in history.

I enjoy these thinly veiled “Apple is doomed” comments. Let’s go under the the assumption the improbable can happen. Apple will take Samsung and a number of its suppliers down as well.

Apple failed once before. It took Bill Gates to push Apple out of gutter. I love Apple to death, but I don't like cocky ppl.

The Apple that failed isn’t the Apple now. Again, the Apple now is the most powerful company, most profitable, and richest company in the world.

They can fail, it they can’t be compared to any other company or even themselves.

Simply a completely different and unique situation now.

Apple is going to make $20B PROFIT in 90 days. That’s more than Google made in all of 2016 and Google is worth $727B.

Interesting to see this. I would've thought it would be the X, or perhaps the Apple Watch Cellular, but as the article states. People expected it to be the 8.

Yeah, for the vast majority of the year the device that was finally announced as the X was assumed to be the 8.

I don’t know why you figured the Apple Watch would dominate searches though.

iPhone is the most successful product line of all-time. It's going to be searched until space travel, realistic sex robots, teleportation, and time travel in different alternative universes starts to become a thing which could be another millenia from now.

For now, most people will continue checking on mostly useless information online like comments or fake news on tiny touchscreen displays. Social networking and browsing comments to argue with strangers online is the thing to do.

Apple will milk iPhone until people stop looking at those screens and stop making a big deal from rumors when reality are incremental upgrades like a different color, slight design change, or a barely better SoC, camera, and security unlock. Will continue to be one of the most searched.

YouTube = draw web traffic through comparison videos and manufactured flame wars by fanatics.

Apple, Google, and Samsung are all high-fiving each other laughing all the way to the bank. It's like MCU and DCEU films. It's the new WWE Royal Rumble for kids who want to watch a throwdown.

Let's see, since Apple didn't win this contest...

"As an act of God, natural disasters should be excluded"

"This is not a fair measure- hurricanes are not technology or business. Search rankings news should be based upon 'but who makes the most profitable ____________'" (and if somehow "we" are ever losing that one, we can evolve it to 'but who makes the most profitable __________ with a fruit logo on it?' and, if somehow "we" are every losing that one we can evolve it into 'but who makes the most profitable __________ with a fruit logo on it that is also designed in California?'")

"Clearly, Google has something wrong with their search algorithm. They should work with Apple to evolve their measures (so that Apple can rank #1)"

"The creator of Hurricane Irma obviously buys lots of advertising on Google, so of course, they are going to be ranked higher"

"This proves that nobody (at all) was interested in a headphone jack"

"Doesn't this mean Apple is now on par with God and/or Mother Nature?"

"It shouldn't be long until Samsung is making Hurricanes"

"What an abomination! I will never, ever, never-ever use Google for search again. Clearly, they are just pushing Apple down because Apple is a competitor."

What else am I missing?

All ;)

Missing a guy making a bunch of straw man statements.

That was one of the slickest, most evil propaganda videos that I have ever seen. How in the world is the traditional "Due to the political nature of the discussion regarding this topic, the discussion thread is located in our Politics, Religion, Social Issues forum..." missing from this post? Can MacRumors at least stick to promoting Apple's social justice agitprop and not Google's?
