Hurricane Irma, iPhone 8, and iPhone X were the world's three most popular search terms on Google this year
This proves interest in Apple's products is fading.

Their activity will only establish that men use more toilet paper than women on a per visit basis.Google needs to publish their video:
The Year in Data Mining: how we were able to extract more money from deep harvesting than ever before.
Slowly raising my hand there...What would happen if people searched on something that would not be appropriate to announce?
My number one search was a "how to" as well.
How to kill Phylakes with cursed weapons?
Also, nice video by Google. Strong imagery.
After reading that, I think I need to see my shrink. Oh wait I almost forgot, we're expecting twins, our eldest just landed a wonderful and promising new job, and wouldn't you know it, I finally got that well-deserved raise. When I read things like this in the context of the continued decline of the global socioeconomic outlook and unending community upheaval and general discontent felt by all but the extremely rich, I can't help but wonder if we're getting to a stage where the proposed release of some new material product is just about the only thing people have to be optimistic about and look forward to.
Don't waste your time telling me I'm being cynical. I know. Being cynical does not make me wrong.
Not gonna start playing FM7 'til Jan. All patches should be implemented by then. Plus some of the guys on my racing team are waiting until XMas to get the game so we are still racing in FM6. AC is awesome, and huge, and awesome. 100 hours in and still having fun.Assassins creed reference I see. I thought you were all about Forza.
Yes it was. Especially how they tied in the various searches with the current events that happened throughout the whole year. Brilliantly executed video.
I think it's just a purely volume metric. Positive or negative is not relevant. Just searched. Is this based on exact match parameters? Otherwise it could easily be negative like „my IPHONE 8 does not work“ „iOS is being crap on my IPHONE 8“
Or an alternative use case:Use Google services to search for Apple products. Buy Apple products to use Google services and apps. The full circle of most people's tech life.
Thank you for repeating what the article said basically verbatim.People searched iPhone 8 before Apple announced it and iPhone X later since iPhone 8 & X was iPhone 7s & 8.
As true as is it is that any company can fail, Apple is far more powerful than Nokia or Blackberry even at the very top of their games.Stay humble my friend. Tech empires crumbled before and will crumble again and beyond. Just look what happened to Nokia, BB and such. They were top of the mountain, especially Nokia in mobile.
I enjoy these thinly veiled “Apple is doomed” comments. Let’s go under the the assumption the improbable can happen. Apple will take Samsung and a number of its suppliers down as well.Stay humble my friend. Tech empires crumbled before and will crumble again and beyond. Just look what happened to Nokia, BB and such. They were top of the mountain, especially Nokia in mobile.

Apple is FAR different than those companies and far more successful and valuable. They also have the biggest mountain of cash in history.
The Apple that failed isn’t the Apple now. Again, the Apple now is the most powerful company, most profitable, and richest company in the world.Apple failed once before. It took Bill Gates to push Apple out of gutter. I love Apple to death, but I don't like cocky ppl.
Interesting to see this. I would've thought it would be the X, or perhaps the Apple Watch Cellular, but as the article states. People expected it to be the 8.
Let's see, since Apple didn't win this contest...
"As an act of God, natural disasters should be excluded"
"This is not a fair measure- hurricanes are not technology or business. Search rankings news should be based upon 'but who makes the most profitable ____________'" (and if somehow "we" are ever losing that one, we can evolve it to 'but who makes the most profitable __________ with a fruit logo on it?' and, if somehow "we" are every losing that one we can evolve it into 'but who makes the most profitable __________ with a fruit logo on it that is also designed in California?'")
"Clearly, Google has something wrong with their search algorithm. They should work with Apple to evolve their measures (so that Apple can rank #1)"
"The creator of Hurricane Irma obviously buys lots of advertising on Google, so of course, they are going to be ranked higher"
"This proves that nobody (at all) was interested in a headphone jack"
"Doesn't this mean Apple is now on par with God and/or Mother Nature?"
"It shouldn't be long until Samsung is making Hurricanes"
"What an abomination! I will never, ever, never-ever use Google for search again. Clearly, they are just pushing Apple down because Apple is a competitor."
What else am I missing?
