I have been struggling with a thought. I already have trouble moving tiles from screen to screen with my current iPhone 6. How will you move the tiles from one screen to the next if the screen edge is around the curve. Certainly there will be this and other issues when using any of the current cases that cup the edges.

Anyone know how this is going to work? Between issues like this, and possible lack of fingerprint ID, I am considering just getting a new 7S+ this round, and put off the "new tech" until after the beta is completed.

Kinda sad though, I have been holding out for 3 years for a "new" iPhone. The 7 was just not different enough to upgrade to last year at the 2 year mark.

I do not think Apple will have the same curve to the edge of the screen that the Sammy phones have. They will work out the icon movement thing. It is the finger ID that is really becoming a problem for Apple. If not resolved soon the 8 will be delayed. Some rumors even point that the 8 will not be delivered with Apple Pay:eek:

The side edges will most probably be the same size as the current iPhones. The term "edge-to-edge" is very misleading in all the current reports just like the "bezel-less" Galaxy S8 and G6. They are not bezel-less because they have pretty significant bezels on the top and bottom. The new iPhone will have a bezel all around of about 4mm (apart from the place where the camera and sensors will be on top), which is the same as the current iPhones have on the side, so no worries about moving icons ;)

Why would anyone put screen to the edge where it's usually covered by the case? How would you hold on to the thing if everything is active? :)

Phone makers are not going to design a phone to be put in a case. I think Jony Ive hates it that people cover up his design in a cheap and ugly case.

But to answer your question, the Galaxy S8 has cases and that phone can actually be called bezel-less on the sides.

None of the rumours I've seen so far have shown or spoken of a curved screen like the Samsung devices.

That said, I believe Samsung designate the main screen and the edges as two separate software controlled areas, in that you can have specific functionality exclusively for the edges (and probably vice versa).

I'd imagine Apple would go the same route were they to introduce a curved edge model which would directly address your icon moving question.

I'm confused what you mean about moving icons. It's easy to move icons on the S8 and it has a curve. I'm not sure why there'd by an issue. You get far to the edge and it pops to the next page.

Yes exactly . . . . because of the software control separation.
