If they have released an iPad keyboard for $350 I doubt that price discounts are really on their mind yet

Your point isn’t valid, that’s an optional accessory for something that no one is forced to purchase. If Apple was requiring somebody to purchase (As in upgrading a phone) in order to own that iPad, then your point would actually be valid.

it was just my personal observation. it is not supposed to be necessarily "truth" to anyone

Look at it from a business standpoint, consumers probably aren’t spending flocks of money right now on ‘new’ tech [Given They probably will enter some type of reserve mode], the smart thing to do from a standpoint like Apple, is discount certain products, to make them more attractive in terms of affordability. Right now, North America will probably face another recession given the pandemic, and given China is not entirely off the rebound yet, there’s zero reason for Apple to release Slew of new iPhones, especially when their marketing is at a standstill without presentation/keynotes.

according to financial analysts, people are starting to sell anything that isn't nailed down to generate cash flow. buying expensive and unnecessary equipment (personal and business) is not what happens during downturns like this one. the mention of 20% unemployment isn't helping sellers of anything (except toilet paper!).

They should announce it even if it ships later. One can hope

Yeah, totally bad idea. Think about it for a second, didn’t Apple do that exact same thing with the Airpower and look what happened to that product. Now, we all know when iPhone SE/9 is coming, but there’s no reason to announce it given there’s so many uncertain variables right now across the globe, it’s not a good idea/‘good business’ practice to do that.

Feel better, getting that out?

The last three outbreaks of Viruses came from China, it’s a question if someone who repeatedly failed to control epidemics (and the current global pandemic) is a good partner for global trade.

I will not buy apple products until there is a vaccine, the chinese haven’t controlled their virus yet and it survives on plastic for about 9 days.

However, all countries will do anything to get independent from chinese exports once corona is gone. The impact on chinese economy will be huge.

We’ll see. Business loves cheap labor and lots of it.

If I buy an Apple product I’ll just wipe it down with alcohol or similar.

it survives on plastic for about 9 days.

Source? The only site I could find which stated 9 days (livescience) states the following:

"They concluded that if this new coronavirus resembles other human coronaviruses, such as its "cousins" that cause SARS and MERS, it can stay on surfaces — such as metal, glass or plastic — for as long as nine days (In comparison, flu viruses can last on surfaces for only about 48 hours.)"

Note it doesn't explicitly state that COVID-19 lasts for 9 days!

Most sites I've read state 3 days (tops).

Unless you're purchasing your iPhone from a store located near the assembly plant in China, it's very unlikely the virus is alive and able to infect you by the time you receive the phone.

If I buy an Apple product I’ll just wipe it down with alcohol or similar.

That would be the sensible thing to do. That being said, common sense isn't very common these days...

Anyone think we can expect an iPhone 9 within the next week?
I think it’s reasonable to think we could potentially see an announcement this week, considering the new iPad wasn’t delayed. They announced all of that new stuff last week on Wednesday, so I’m thinking they’d do it tomorrow if anything. Also, the 9 apparently went into mass production last week, but I’m not sure if that means launch is imminent (Anyone know how far Apple usually starts mass production VS actually launching the product?)

On the other hand, if they don’t announce it by early/mid April, then I’m going to assume it’s delayed until WWDC or something.

It would be great if it was to be released tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

My wife and I both use an iPhone 6 that we bought right when they were released so I’m psyched for this. The 11 looks nice but we like the home button/Touch ID setup just fine. Can’t believe these phones have held up so well. We did take advantage of the $29 battery replacement a couple of years ago but the battery life still ain’t great.
