Hi,

I'll be going to Canada for a few days over the Christmas break and I want to bring my iphone 3G with me..just using it as an ipod to listen to my music. What can I do to make sure I dont get charge for anything when abroad? I'm thinking of taking out my AT&T sim card and turing the iphone to airplane mode. Is that gonna be enough?

Also, would the wifi still work on the iphone without a sim card in it?

btw, if i do decide to use my iphone 3G in Canada using a simunlock with a local canadian sim card, i wouldnt get charge anything from at&t right? I guess what i'm trying to ask is does at&t keep track of phone usage through the at&t sim card, or the iphone itself. I'm guessing its the sim card...but just wanna make sure.

Sorry for sounding like such a noob..lol

Airplane mode will suffice to kill cell data and calls. You can use Wi-Fi in Airplane mode and use all the internet features.

If you want to be 200% sure, then pop out your SIM and keep it safe till your return.
